DEFENCE MINISTER ANNOUNCED SUCCESSFUL TEST OF NUCLEAR DEVICE DETONATION
Eldwynian armed forces has succeeded in detonating its first nuclear device. Defence Ministry Spokesperson, Arlene Tadson, announced the report in a press conference this morning, acknowledging that the test had been conducted deep within the Grand Gwyndell Mountains, helped tremendously by Eldwyn’s recent breakthrough in atomic science and nuclear energy. Mrs. Tadson declined to give comments on the mass resignations of members of the Eldwynian Royal Atomic Research Institute, purportedly of anger over the lack of transparency of the device's development.

The test is reported to be an underground detonation test that happened at 6 am Gwyndell Time. The device's detonation yielded up to 104 kilotons of TNT worth of explosive power. The explosion reportedly displaced upward of 11 million tons of soil. The device itself is weighed at 2,000 kg, and is part of the finished first batch of Eldwyn's nuclear warhead stockpile.
