Iceland:
The North Sea Federation's Volcanic Ash Advisory Center continues to report more and more volcanic and seismic activity in Iceland. From the series of mid ranged 5.0s, to the eruption of Fagradalsfjall, most new coverage has shied away from the activities in the rocky northern land. On March 19th, the first magma erupted from cinder cones on the flanks of Fagradalsfjall.
Although yesterday, a large change has occurred. Beneath the Geldingadalur Valley, the mounting pressure has been directed from the previous center of the eruptions to here, 64 or so kilometers from Reykjavik, capital of Iceland. While still safe from the wrath of mother nature, Reykjavik is coming closer and closer to a disaster scenario. That is why Reykjavik's fire and emergency services are coming up with drills and evacuation plans just in case a fissure erupts closer than the citizens of the sleepy town would like. Said drills are expected to be via phone notifications, to test the emergency notice system, and drills for the southernmost quadrants of the city. In these areas, workplaces are recommended to create a muster scenario and to practice mustering to a centralized location, and knowing the routes out of the so called 'Danger Zone'. Residents are recommended to do the same, although no action will be taken by the government unless there is an absolute threat against the citizens of the city.
