The rebirth of Azenia. From a monarchy to a republic. Despite the change, despite the reforms, authority rested in the hands of the dynasty. Natalia was no longer the Empress; her daughter, Paulina, would not enjoy the same title as her mother once did, but they would give her the title of President. And as the new President of the republic, all the authority still rested in the hands of the dynasty. As the daughter of that dynasty in this decade, she would have that authority.

And most of the country accepted this. However, there were a few generals in the army who did not accept this change. Publicly, they welcomed this; privately, they schemed to overthrow her and bring about an end to the changes within the country. They would bring in a junta, or, if they could, a true democratic republic, rather than a republic with an eternal presidency.

Among those generals was General Juan David Andino. He was a new addition to the ranks, and he was one of the youngest. But he was also popular, thanks to his dedication to training his men and his own contributions to the armed forces. He was instrumental to the acceptance of new equipment from the Warsaw Pact. But secretly, he despised the current political situation of Azenia.

And because of that hatred, he would call his comrades to his house at 8 PM, on a Tuesday, along with representatives of underground communist and democratic groups from the countryside, and from the frontiers, to plan against the government. That was months ago.

Today, he called them all again to his house, and he informed them, thanks to his secret military activities, and to his own efforts to extract equipment, ammunition, and supplies from his own formations, that there would be almost enough materiel to arm his comrades, while he would continue to persuade much of the men and officers under his command to prepare for a rebellion that would then give birth to a civil war.
