If only they managed to do something against ignorant criminals burning homosexuals alive such as happened in Latvia two weeks ago, then it would have my support, but I always feel pride events are only making things worse...

Ehh I don't see pride events as making things worse (societal changes don't tend to happen quietly). For many people, Pride is the only time they can find unconditional love and support. It'd just be nice to see all the "we're standing by you" crowd to actually do something with the (temporary) massive increase in support for the movement.
