well, Uncle Tom's Cabin was back in the 1850s, being one of the main reasons for inflaming of tensions prior to the Civil war, so it wouldn't be all that important by 1899. It could help with me more accurately depicting slavery though I guess.

Your best bet is getting powerful men from Sudan who dislike France to retake control then invade Egypt.

"That could work. I bet there are several groups of disgruntled men and women in Egypt who loathe the British occupation." The Sultan gazes upward as if something is there. "But we would have to keep it secret somehow."

Ferneus wrote:[] September 17, 1899. [] A Hundred Years In Dixie! [] Richmond, Virginia. []
Nearly 40 years have passed since the South initially declared independence from the United States. Ever since then, the Confederacy has desperately tried to maintain and even strengthen the institution of American slavery. Even though the South clings to an outdated and inefficient economic system, it has still changed rapidly and drastically to fit to the changing times. In 1866, the South was a battered and exhausted nation, still picking cotton from the ground and struggling to build up a meaningful industrial base. Now, in 1899, the South boasts a roaring industrial economy, home to some of the great inventions and discoveries of the late 19th century. In the early 1880s, a former Confederate officer known as John C. Pemberton created a drink known as Coca-Cola, which has now become widespread throughout the world as one of the leading brands of soda. The South is also home to one of the most well established military institutes in history, the Virginia Military Institute based in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. VMI has given birth to some of the greatest generals in the South, including William Travis Jr, George Washington Custis Lee, Thomas Ritter, and Frederick Brewer. The South is also home to a vibrant culture, with music such as Dixie, Bonnie Blue Flag, and Battle Cry Of Freedom being popular in other countries. Southern music has grown to have a very unique sound, with banjos, violins, drums, and trumpets all being telltale signs of traditional Southern music. But deep below the surface, a very different culture has emerged. The South works hard to suppress the personality and individualism of it's slaves, but this usually only inflames the slaves' desires to have a culture and community of their own. If one was to go to a factory in Atlanta operated by slaves, one would find a very unique sound emerging as the music of African American culture. In many slave communities, proper instruments are often a commodity, meaning that slaves make music by improvising with their environment and what is currently available to them. In many factories throughout the South, slaves often use the clank of hammers and the hiss of machinery as the beat to various work songs, often speaking of their desires for freedom and the hardships of slavery. In New Orleans, a city filled with both enslaved blacks and free people of color, a unique Creole language has emerged as a native language for the free people of color living in the city, being a very unique mix of African, French, and English speech mannerisms. As the South prepares to move into the 20th century, it's people increasingly set themselves into three distinct culture groups, that of the ruling white Southerners, enslaved African-Americans, and free people of color. How the Confederacy is viewed internationally in the 20th century will depend on how these three culture groups are treated and integrated into one unified Southern culture. But all of that escapes the mind of the simple Southerner, who currently celebrates the fast-approaching arrival of a new century with the cry of '40 years in Dixie, and heres to 400 more!"

Whereas there was joyousness in the south, the north was in a state of somber memorial for "Lincoln Day". The holiday is named for the day that he, along with the rest of the innocent citizens of Washington D.C., was burned by confederate forces, and the city was reduced to rubble by confederate looters. in the place of the confederate gaiety (using it in the historical context) is sorrow, and a desire for revenge. this second desire was very beneficial for the government, for stirring up patriotism required little more than a contextual implication of the tragic events of the past. this day was no different. this time, however, there were two special surprises, to be announced at the military parade. the first of the two was the Browning Auto-5, the first "semi-automatic" shotgun, carried by many of the marching soldiers. the second was announced as a separate event from the parade, which was as momentous as the parade itself. in the center of Times Square, an odd shape under a tarp had remained for several days, under armed guard to prevent anyone from looking. General Salmon Brown made a speech in Times Square which unveiled it, ripping the tarp off of what was once an ironclad, attached with large wheels, wicked-looking harpoons, and a full compliment of 8 cannons. the USS Patriot, what the government has dubbed an "Armored Mobile Barrage Vehicle", or AMBV, glittered in the New England Midday light. In the speech, General Brown inspired the American people by praising their accomplishments despite their setbacks, saying "The south sought to cripple us by setting our cities alight, and while they have reveled in their "accomplishments" of inserting bubbles into water, the American people have been beset by the spirit of true invention and, with the help of the genius Thomas Edison, set our own cities alight with electricity for the first time in the world, created the moving picture through the kinetoscope, and created the gramophone so that music can be heard by all. America is, and has always been the land of ingenuity, and that is how it shall henceforth remain."

inner workings? A. we would never let civilians inside it, and B. its method of locomotion is through harpoons and winches, rather than a conventional engine, making it utterly useless for mountainous switzerland, plus the concept is more boat with wheels than tank, and switzerland would have little use for that

Quick note: I AM funding you and you need to resolve a crisis in Macedonia between you, the Serbians, and the greeks. There's this temporary zone in the area till it's all sorted.

In short: previous Bulgarian player saw the greek claims on Serbia and decided to start a crisis over them, then claiming parts of greek Macedonia to defend their Serbian brethren. A buffer zone was made till the "what to do" with the land has been decided, which I hope is soon.
