The Autocracy of Fijian Islands | I just picked up a sweet Colt 1911 today. I ran the serial number, and it was manufactured in 1918. The story behind is It was produced by Colt, bought by the US Military, was issued to a Major in the US Marines during WW1. When WW2 broke out, it was issued to a Captain in General Patton’s Third Army. It then went into storage where it was sold off as surplus to a guy who bought in 1953. Then I bought it today from his daughter. All the paperwork and everything. Truly one of a kind find. I wish guns could talk, the stories this thing could tell. I am truly fortunate to have such an iconic piece of Americana. | |
The Matriarchy of The Cretanja Queendom | That is so interesting, the provenance and all. Owning a piece of history is truly a wonderful thing. |
