The Empire of Tyramon

The primaeri wrote:"of course...why wouldn't I."
As Eveline crossed the threshold, she yelped with pain as the collar shocked her. The Grand Emperor laughed, tapped a few buttons on a remote, and shrugged.
"must have forgotten."
He laughed and left.

In the silence of the cell, Jonathan's poker face dropped, and replaced the sullen, defeated look with a wide, chaotic, and insane smile. left alone and dejected on purpose, Jonathan cackled maniacally.

Dinner was served quickly, as Eveline stood alone next to Clovis. The Grand Emperor was boastful, proclaiming his plans for a slew of long term expansionistic ideals once the planets were annihilated.
Clovis saw the sullen look on Eveline's face, and lent over.
"Hey...are...are you ok?" he asked.

Vara listened intently to the Grand Emperor's plans and occasionally gave a comment.

Eveline looked at Clovis and then at the Grand Emperor and shook her head dismissively.
"I'm fine," she said quietly.

"Is...this about Jonathan?"

Eveline said nothing, deciding that it was probably for the best if Clovis didn't know about what happened, at least not yet.

Vara remained seated, contemplating the news. She was surprised that such a simple trap was able to fool the Grand Emperor, that the Grand Emperor was so careless or ignorant. With this new information, her mind began to turn, considering how she could use the information to her own advantage.

Eveline was also surprised and breathed a deep sigh of relief, relaxing considerably as she heard the good news.

All three of them immediately look to their left wrists fro confirmation and sign in relief.
Carissa sits up first, her eyes glowing gold as she slowly gets up and stretches out her limbs. “Can you still see me?” She asks hesitantly.
Connie shakily sits up, as her eyes glow bright red. “Y-yeah.”
Cait frowns, feeling down his chest. “Oh august it’s good to be back. No offense but being a girl sucks, I have no idea how you live like that,” he murmurs as his eyes flash blue.
Connie smirks slightly. “You’re telling me,” she laughs a little. “And you didn’t even have to deal with a bra. Or a tampon. Or the worst parts of my immune system being a b—“
“Hey! Can we...” Carissa tentatively walks towards her siblings, and they all embrace in the middle, jumping back as there’s a small shower of sparks. A moment of silence passes between them.
“August. I missed you both so much,” Connie smiles slightly.
Carissa looks between them, subtly reaching into Cait’s pocket and pulling out his switchblade.
“...Carissa?” Cait murmurs tentatively.
Carissa looks between them. “I’m sure you both have noticed this by now, but... the world is bigger than just you and you and me,” she says softly, catching both of her siblings off-guard.
“Y-yeah, I guess. But you guys are all I’ve ever needed,” Connie says gently.
“Yeah,” Cait agrees enthusiastically.
“Well, yeah. But there’s more out there for us. I mean, you both have these incredible paths with these incredible jobs, and you’ve both found incredible women. Cait, you have a daughter. I’m really happy for both of you, and I know all of our paths are leading somewhere incredible. And I want us all to always be there for each other. But it’s also time for us to get out of each other’s way.”
She looks at both of their faces, taking each of their hands with a small shower of sparks, and before either of them has time to react she’s taken the switchblade and cut the strings off of Cait’s wrist and then Connie’s, followed by her own small golden string.
“W— Carissa what the hell?!”
“Carissa!”
“I love you. And that’s a string connecting us that’s stronger than this will ever be.” She holds the three strings together in her fingers; red, yellow and blue. She takes the blade and cuts them each into three smaller pieces, tying them together.
“Carissa?” Connie’s voice breaks slightly.
“We need to forge our own paths.”
“But I don’t want to,” Connie says softly.
“I believe in you, Connie,” Cait smiles gently. “And I’m always right next to you and inside your heart.”
Connie sniffles lightly as a tear runs down her cheek.
“These have always served as a reminder of ourselves and each other, that we’re always there for each other.” Carissa smiles slightly as she takes one multi-colored bracelet and ties it securely around Cait’s left wrist, and then puts one on Connie, silently asking Connie to tie the last one on her wrist. “Now they’ll be a reminder of us. The world is bigger than the three of us, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t stand together in it.”
Connie and Cait both glance down at their wrists, turning their bracelets around.
A small flash of brown sparks goes between them and then fades, and then they’re all in each other’s arms, sobbing, with no sparks this time.
It would seem the bond between them has been fixed, and they’ve all been returned to their own bodies.
(Sorry lol that wasn’t as cool as I thought it would be but hopefully it makes sense)

She looks at Cait and Carissa. "I... I promise I'll be back for both of you soon. I love you both." She gives each of them a brief hug. She turns and looks at Tsarina, brushing her thumb between the blue and gold on her bracelet. She smiles softly and plants a kiss on Tsarina's lips.

Eveline noticed Clovis' blunder, and so did Vara.

Eveline put a hand on Clovis' shoulder.
"The Grand Emperor has lost the war. He is as much your enemy as the Aerlanicans' enemy."

Vara considered this information. From what she learned about the Grand Emperor, she knew this was bad news for all of them. The others may not realize it, but the Grand Emperor wouldn't go down quietly. They'd all suffer his wrath and anger. He probably have them all killed before any liberation force arrived. Or, maybe there wouldn't even be an invasion. The Galactic Union might just decide to destroy the planet. Either way, they'd be dead. They had to get out of there.
Vara stood up and left, following the Grand Emperor.
"Grand Emperor, I suggest that we lay a trap for the Aerlanicans. Give me a fleet, or a part of one. I'll take Jonathan and force the Aerlanicans to attempt a rescue. They'll send in everything to help him. Then I'll destroy them. Vengeance will be served, and Jonathan can watch as his beloved people burn, before meeting his own fiery end."

“I…I think we should have Koa as their diplomat, and me as the diplomat for her-kanas…I mean kansas…”
Finds-Path grinned wildly, she said something in a tribal language, to which Speaks-In-Water grew extremely defensive. Finds-Path laughed and walked off. Keeps-Fire shrugged, and continued on their war.
“Come on, we have a train to catch.” Finds-Path said.

The Minister of Defence, a William Farnham, piped up in a raspy voice. Burin could see a small scar on his throat, and recognised that he most likely was wounded in combat.
"Well, we're people who want peace and prosperity but can't go five weeks without being invaded." he said with a chuckle.
The Aerlanicans laughed at the grim joke.

"But, in reality," Madalyn Jones, the Deputy Prime Minister, said, "We're a people from a very mountainous region of high altitude...I guess that makes us slightly susceptible to the heat, but the cold is really no bother for us. We're a very proud people, staunchly patriotic and loyal to the constitution of democracy that we died to protect. Aerlanica itself is mostly mountains and valleys, with some basins located around the place and some impossibly high mountains, the highest housing Frostpeak, the...place where the worst of Aerlanica is sent to live out their sentences. Right now we are observing the eight days of mourning, whereupon we wear black and remember and mourn those who have died to protect, preserve and secure our nation and our people."
"The relationship with other nations was...quite odd," Chloe Robin added, "we entered isolation a long time ago, and generally kept to ourselves in our mountain home, but our politics mainly revolve around peaceful coexistence with all the other nations, while ensuring peace reigns supreme across not only Augusta, but now the entire galaxy. It was only until the September Crisis, an event of strained global relations, that we did reenter the diplomatic stage, and no sooner, we realised that the current greenhouses were not producing enough food to feed us, and desperately needed imports, such as our trade agreement with the Kansases where we import food on the cheap in return for a guarantee of their independence."
"And they're got a good bargain," the Minister of Defence said proudly, "our military troops are highly trained, highly equiped and highly loyal. You want people who are masters at making an invading army regret ever firing a shot at you? send the Aerlanicans; we're masters at guerrilla and asymmetrical warfare in a variety of environments, including wastelands that would make other armies collapse, furthermore, we're pretty effective when it comes to attritional warfare and lightning fast breakthroughs. After all, we had a lot of practice on each other. If the SDNP is peace, we are the definition war."

******

Amber nodded.
"I lost my brother in the civil war as well...it's not an easy thing to overcome."

Burin nodded. He looked at his own Minister of Defense. He was the best person to explain the Khanian Military. General Orion nodded. "Historically - and I'm talking about when the Great Khanate ruled - we would swamp our enemies with superior numbers, the unleash hailstorms of arrows. Its a tactic born from the fact we are plainspeople, and rely on the fact theres nowhere our enemy can run to. Obviously, we can't do that anymore." He gave a little smile. "We simply don't have the manpower, and the tactic wouldn't be effective against the current technology. Instead, we rely on Director John Doig of the RKBI to make political opponents disappear. Only when things get truly bad do we intervene militarily. Then, we use tactics similar to yours. Guerrilla warfare. Most of the time, we ensure we have the element of surprise on our side. Not just in the battles, but we try to dictate the entire war."

Kade nodded, placing his hand on her shoulder. "But we come out stronger than ever."
