Hello, and for the new one welcome here!

Feel free to ask anything if you need any help :)
Here's some useful information:

Welcome to The North Pacific!
NationStates' largest democracy

Whether you are new or experienced, this handbook will provide you with answers to all of your questions. If you have other unanswered questions, feel free to ask Delegate Simone Republic, Minister of Home Affairs The Democratic Kingdom Of Skaraborg, or any of the Gameside Advocates and Mentors. They will be glad to help! Additionally, we are always looking for ways to improve this handbook, so let us know if you think something should be added or changed.

First Steps

This section covers the very first items you should check off as a newcomer to the game and TNP.

  • Why you should be in TNP: explaining the pros of staying in our large region.

  • Endorse the Delegate, Vice Delegate and the Security Council: Endorsing the Delegate, Vice Delegate and all members of the Security Council is important for safeguarding our region against external threats and ensuring the continuation of our constitutional government.

  • LinkJoin the regional forum: The forum is where most government and roleplay activities take place. Registering an account is very easy.

  • LinkJoin our Discord: Our Discord server is where our members hang out and chat about the game and real life subjects.

  • LinkApply for citizenship: Citizenship is your ticket to TNP. As a citizen, you can vote to elect our Delegate and other government officials, hold them accountable, and even run for these positions yourself.

Ways to Get Involved

Now that you have cleared the basics, you must be looking for things to do. Below are some of the opportunities TNP offers.

  • Join the Executive Staff: The equivalent of TNP's Civil Service, the Executive Staff is a group of residents and citizens that are employed to assist one or more of the Ministries of the Executive Government. It is ideal both for new residents who want to gain experience in how the government operates, and for experienced citizens who are looking to contribute to the region through the Executive.

  • Enlist in the North Pacific Army: The North Pacific Army (NPA) is our regional military force. The NPA defends the region, our allies, and serves abroad helping our friends and fighting our enemies.

  • Enlist in the Militia: The North Pacific Army Militia is for people who wish to contribute to the North Pacific Army but for whatever reason, likely because they cannot/do not want to have a forum or Discord account, cannot be members of the regular Army in the Auxiliary or Special Forces branches.

  • Get involved in the World Assembly: Joining the World Assembly (WA) is one of the best ways to empower your nation, especially in TNP. Thanks to our WA Development Program, as a WA member you can determine international laws, have one of the highest endorsement counts in the entire game, and even win awards!

  • Get involved in RolePlay: We have not one, but two vibrant RolePlay (RP) universes, Eras and Strangereal. Each comes with its own map, chronology, and physics laws. If you commit to being active in RP, you can claim a spot in either universe's map, and join others in weaving stories about your nation and its role in the world.

  • Get involved in trading cards: Our regional cards guild provides many resources you can take advantage of to increase the value of your deck, including several offerings of free cards. As a member of the guild, you can also participate in many other cards-related activities, including themed collections, pull events, and regular publications.

Laws and Government

This section contains all the relevant laws, guidelines, and policies of TNP's Government.

  • Government index: Get to know your government by using this list of all government officials in TNP. If you have questions or suggestions about any aspect of the regional governance, feel free to send a telegram to the corresponding government official.

  • Law index: This is a compilation of all legal documents currently in force in TNP. This includes our Constitution and Bill of Rights, which form the basis of our government.

  • RMB Guidelines: Posting on the regional message board (RMB) is a great way to socialize and get to know other TNP nations. Just make sure to follow these guidelines.

  • Embassy policy: If you are here as a diplomat from another region, please take a look at our policy for in-game and forum embassies.

  • Recruitment policy: If you are here to recruit for another region, please take a look at our policy on permissible and prohibited types of recruitment.

World Assembly Policy

For WA member-states, here is where you can find out about our WA vote recommendations and voting policy.

  • Information for WA Voters: Produced by the Ministry of WA Affairs, IFVs provide vote recommendations and analysis about all resolutions that reach the floor of the General Assembly or Security Council.

  • World Assembly voting policy: Look here to learn how TNP's Delegate casts the regional vote on World Assembly resolutions, and how you can help determine that vote.

Regional News and Publications

TNP publishes a number of regional publications, where news and reports are delivered to the public. You can follow them to stay up to speed with what's going on in TNP.

Important update: The Strangereal map has changed from TNP to region=saint_helene

Strangereal Roleplay Map

Very important points:

1. If you would like to stake a claim in for some land on the map then TG, Waupun Island, Minuda, Lungha.
2. If you make a post on the RMB asking to be put on the map, or put it in a factbook or dispatch, you will be ignored, please refrain from doing so.
3. Try your best to find out in advance WHERE you would like to claim, not just "can i join the map pls" or a vague "this rough area pls" *points at an entire continent* Get yourself Linkpaint.net, make a thing, show where you want it. Or at the very absolute least try to put in words exactly where, it's not that hard.
4. When you know where you want to be, stay there, don't ask carto if you can move. "B-b-but that spot is nicer and-" Should have thought of that in advance.

-

-

Claims must be:
1. Reasonable enough to be put onto the map. No beginner nation will be the size of Friently, or higher, for their claim. If you want more accurate claims and you have Paint.net, beginner claims have a limit of 40k pixels. Your secondary nation will have to be at 20k pixels or less. However a secondary cannot be claimed immediately upon joining the map.
2. Picky is good. Feel free to request changes to borders if you aren't happy with them.
3. This map's planet is the same size as Earth, so we won't be making the map any bigger. If Earth can fit 200 nations, so can this.
4. We are not changing or adding new territory to the map. Use the existing land more efficiently and we won't need any more.
5. Not on any body of water.
-
Map removal will occur when:
1. AFRP, or Away From RP (not RPing for 30 days, 20 days in the case of people on other RMB maps)
2. RMB RP Ban (if one clause states "therefore, the RMB Cartography Staff shall remove <nation> from the map")
3. Cease to Exist (when the nation dies in the 28th day. Exceptions apply.)
4. Moderator Sanctioned
5. RP posts are not up to standard (refrain from making posts that are just one sentence)

Map Version:406: What economic crisis?

Reminder: The alliance map is not handled by the carto team but by independent people who only work on it when they feel like it, this may cause the alliance map to be outdated, do not ask for it to be updated, it will be when a new version is finished.

Map 57

Overview

Welcome to the Pegasia, a new world as you may say that houses many ideologies and is home to two resident superpowers; the Imperial Federation(ping AGU and Tonga) and the Republic of Yingguo(Ping Krustevland). With the technology year being 1975, it is currently the cold war period presently being butted between the nations of what Yingguo considers as the "Free World" and the Imperial "Monarchist League" with many inbetweens such as Gayogohono/Overhadamine and Verisaw.

In this world, you decide how your nation acts, reacts and conducts itself on the world stage, so long as it follows our rules on the discord. The cold war rages on by the day, and the nuclear clock continues to roll as the few sit ontop of the many with their masses of power and strength. Come join us today, we need you to fight on the good fight - or your own fight, if you may.

STANDARDS OF REALISM
- No technology beyond 1976, anything beyond that has to be researched with every in real life day representing 3 months of roleplay research to the "First Flight" year.
- No utilizing weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear weapons. Chemical and biological warfare is allowed in defensive conditions(Offensive only if the other player agrees).
- No edgy roleplay posts, maintain the basic rules of the RMB. This would mean no genocides, no things such as re-enacting the holocaust and graphic purges.
- No loopholing, loopholing will be determined by the executives(Ping ESL, Me (AGU), Krustevland and Tonga) and if caught doing so will face OOC and potentially IC reparations
- No joke nations and godmoddy nations. This means you can't have your terrain entirely depend on hard to traverse land and you can only use 3-5% of your population in military.
- No instant defeat military posts. You have to roleplay the movement of your forces and them engaging the enemy before actually attacking or "defeating" them. Always ping opponents.

If you are interested in submitting a claim, be sure to contact the following nations:

-Truavania (For Pegasia)
-Noflag[/nation] (For Hollow Earth)
-The Islands of Tonga[/font]

map 10

*nations in either one of these types of alliances, can be in the other type of alliance, ie, a nation in a defence alliance can be in a economic alliance.
*Unions count as one nation, so if a defence/military alliance has a union that breaks up and there are more than 8 members(nations) in the alliance, its ok, as long as they dont bring in more people after the break up. note, if this is being exploited, removal of alliance and ban on joining alliances may occur.
*you can not be in an alliance of the same kind, ie, defence/military and economic

Official language in the County of Santhea

In Illusia and Neverendia, there are two official and national languages, those being Illusian and Neverendian. Along with that, the country also has four regional languages, namely Kazdelian (alongside its Nova Thalianessean dialect), Gathorean, High Neverendian, and last but not the least, Santhean. This factbook focuses on the Santhean language, a regional language spoken in the Illuverendian county of Santhea.

The Santhean language (Santhens lithden) is a Southeast Anean language exclusively unique and widely spoken in the county of Santhea in eastern Neverendia. The sole surviving language within the East Neverendian language family, Santhean was considered to be a creole language between Illusian, Neverendian, and other regional languages of the country. Further linguistic research to its origins showed that Santhean had cognate roots with Gathorean and bits of High Neverendian, certifying its East Neverendian heritage and thus classifying it to be a West Leithanic language. Illusian influence however, owing to the region's turbulent history, developed the language even further. The uniqueness of Santhean as the solely remaining East Neverendian language has garnered local fame and thus many organisations were established to save the language. The Franziskanic era's Royal Decree on Usages of Illuverendian Regional Languages, signed and entered into force in 1904, solidified the status of Santhean and other Illuverendian regional languages, thus promoting their use and saving them from extinction.

During the Ekelepoche, the Santhean language was used extensively as a mean of protest against Priscilla d'Autriche, as she had a fondness for it.

Santhean follows the same grammatical structure of Neverendian, and uses one definite particle: dee (/ˈdɪ/), in contrast to the Illusian articles der, die, das (which are masculine/feminine/neuter definite articles respectively). The Santhean particle is more similar to the Neverendian the and High Neverendian ye. Santhean also uses the indefinite particle en, similar to the Neverendian a. A number of Santhean words come from Middle Neverendian origins which have been deprecated due to the integration of Kazdelian to Neverendian at some point.

Santhean also pronounces the letter J as a Y in most cases, but there are exceptions.

Santhean slang (Santhens stratlithden)

Like most languages, the Santhean language has a bountiful amount of slang. Santhean slang, locally known as Stratlithden (lit. street language) are in italic. Its Neverendian equivalents are in bold.

Vogelhead

birdbrain

Calque and slight alteration of Neverendian birdbrain

(en) Milchschake

mind-boggling or confusing

Vulkan

cheesed off, pissed off; see angry

Denotes a considerably high level of anger

parroting, parroting around

chatter

Folktalk

gossip

boole o' grains

cup of tea

nibblelings

snacks, grub

From Neverendian nibble and Illusian suffix -ling

weedy

boring

Originated from Santhean farmers that were kicked out during the Illusia-Neverendia War. The war
had displaced them from their farms, which severely damaged Santhea's agricultural industry. Upon their return, their fields were overrun with weeds, and animal ranches were riddled with carcasses of slain livestock. Its usage, as a terminology for boring, was registered as far back as the 19th century.

Stratlithden saw a major uptick in use at the onset of the 20th century, especially when Santhean was promulgated to be a protected language, with provisions for proliferation. As a result, Stratlithden found itself to be integrated into the Neverendian language slang.
