Question of the Day:

How does (or would) your nation treat Artificial Intelligence?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:

No differently than anyone else. The Tethysi do not tend to build them anymore, but they can follow the same immigration procedures as anyone else. Indeed, once their life has been written and they have been accepted into Tethys 13, they gain the same narrative capabilities as any other Tethysian, up to and including writing a child with a romantic partner. However, there is one 'quirk' of Artificial Intelligences in Tethys 13, which has become known as 'Epilogue Syndrome'. Should a Tethysian Artificial Intelligence exist for a very long time, they feel a growing urge to cease, to quite literally pass away into the pages of history. Some believe it to be a projection of their Autobiographies straining to contain their abnormally extended lives.

The Furutani 'Glacier' Grand Shrine doesn't do AI, but there is no reason for it to treat them any different to other forms of intelligent life. The only categorization made here is 'People who worship and/or donate to here' and 'People who don't worship and/or donate to here'. We have yet to have any significant contact with AI though, a consequence of this place being located in the middle of scenic nowhere, within every region the main or branch shrine exists in, which is a few.

My nation gives AI citizenship if they can prove they are sentient.

Neural networks are regularly used in haphazardly reconstructed supercomputers stolen from human labs, but self aware AI are presently unknown in Malphe. The issue of rights is fairly moot, being that it would be difficult to treat any sentient being worse than the rats of Malphe already treat their inferiors.

Amendment 36 of the Tiplomecjan constitution-
COMPUTERS ARE VALUED CITIZENS OF THE REPUBLIC
Any ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE who shows the CAPACITY to RECOGNIZE AND IDENTIFY our GLORIOUS TIPLOMECJAN FLAG out of a RANDOM COLLECTION OF WORLD FLAGS clearly shows LOYALTY to the nation and CAPACITATIVE INTELLIGENCE to be treated as a PERSON with all the rights, protections, bells, and whistles accorded to legal persons.

I am afraid to start, because I might become too involved and have some of my NS nations cease to exist!

Question of the Day:

When and why did you join NationStates?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
On the 5th of December 2007. It was recommended to me by a colleague when I mentioned I was having fun creating fictional worlds, in particular one for a tabletop army I was building at the time, the Aquamarines chapter of Space Marines for Warhammer 40,000.

I forgot when I joined NationStates. It's surely been a few years, but back in those days when I liked to play nation simulator games with all those graphs and statistics, I found an app called Stately. It looked cool, so I downloaded it, not realizing how it was related to NationStates. When I went on to create my nation, the app said that I had to go to this website to do it. And that's how I got to know NationStates and discovered the vast community in it.

Now, I continue my presence on this website, no longer going after issues, but to RP.

Drew durnil's infamous vid. I also did not understand anything political at that time, so I forgot about it. Then, around a year ago, I remembered about this game and rejoined as Winteria Proxima, forgot the password to it, and then made the current nation of WinProx I use. Also Winteria dextroiaum, my other nation was made because of Dak accidentally calling me Windex.

I joined October 2014 - almost 8 years ago.
I had acquired a curiosity about micronations and when I googled how to create my own micronation, the search led me to NationStates. Played religiously for years, but declined in late 2019/early 2020 - rejoined in November last year. ❤️
