I almost moved to Norway once. I had been way into the MyOpera community back in the day, and Opera Software was hiring Perl developers, and I knew Perl...not super well, but enough. But it is/was tough to move into Norway, and Opera didn't have the staffing to assist other than saying, "yes, we hired him." If you got the job.
Luckily I didn't. Years later, Opera eventually got gobbled up by a Chinese conglomerate, and a lot of the people I knew jumped ship.
Still love Norway, and have it on my "someday" list. In the meantime, I've been learning Finnish, which may be handy as they attempt to become the newest additions to NATO.
Suomi on kylmä ja kaunis maa! (Finland is a cold and beautiful country!)
Was shouting "Хуй войне!" at the St.-P. concert spontaneous?

I often find myself curious about many topics, and research them. I would say I have looked into historical examples of ethnonationalism, but that certainly doesn't mean I support such a thing.

Why? Russia surrendered in the Crimean War, in the Russo-Japanese War and WWI. Tried again in WWII, but Hitler foolishly refused to accept the surrender.
the Tsars where Reasonable. Russian Leadership Now ? are they Reasonable ? Russia will not Surrender it will Take a Chunk of Ukraine. before a Treaty that is Favorable is Signed.
my lessons have been going well, спасибо. I've gotten the alphabet down. I'll admit ы was a little hard to learn. Currently I'm on the "Scary" part, cases. Honestly I need to work on vocabulary more. At this point I mostly understand the structure of the language, I just need to learn more words.
Sergei Khrushchev once commented in his typical gallows humor that as children they were instructed in school to pull a blanket over themselves and then slowly crawl towards the cemetery. Why slowly? So as not to create a panic.
No need to get defensive with someone who has not once used the label of libertarian correctly. Almost every nation on the planet to this day defines itself through an ethnic national prism. For example, no amount of time spent living in and adopting the cultural trappings of Russia, will ever make me Russian, and that does not have to be bad thing as long as you avoid an ethnocentric view that can breed a false sense of cultural supremacy.
At the other end of that is the rare exception of the US where despite taking some time to fully realize, being "American" is more a matter of philosophy than ethnicity. I have met some remarkable people around the world that in their hearts without even realizing it are more American than many of the people I bump into here on the streets. I get torn between laughing and shouting in a rage when I hear the dummkopfs of racial activism try to reinforce their claims about the inherent prejudicial nature of the US. So I take a deep breath, then point them in the direction of African immigrant families, particularly Nigerian, that outperform white US natives in any societal metric you care to compare.
