asia clearly had guns in that period though.
though it may not be in the shape of european guns, but they indeed had firearms (there exists artworks in that period which clearly shown firearm-like weapons, and chinese officials wrote documents about their weapons, a fire spear which is a handheld weapon which fires projectiles in a very high speed via gunpowder)
perhaps, it wouldnt hurt to alter its shape a little bit, to look more like arquebuses?
