The United Communes of Eurocom is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Leader with a fair hand, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space, state-planned economy, and restrictive gun laws. The compassionate, democratic, cheerful population of 2.995 billion Eurocoms are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The enormous, liberal, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Paris. The average income tax rate is 98.6%.

The frighteningly efficient Eurocom economy, worth 576 trillion Euros a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is dominated by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Book Publishing, and Arms Manufacturing. Average income is an impressive 192,417 Euros, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The bonfire of the old paper records can be seen for miles around Paris, holidaymakers sleep curled up on the floor as hotel beds are replaced with oversized bookcases, cash-strapped junkies lick rabbits for a cheap high, and children dream of becoming physicians and physicists. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Eurocom's national animal is the Hawk, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its national religion is Secularism.
