The Delightful Republic of Canditia is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by Chloe Smith with a fair hand, and renowned for its smutty television, absence of drug laws, and punitive income tax rates. The compassionate, democratic population of 1.365 billion Canditians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The large, liberal government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Caramel City. The average income tax rate is 69.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The all-consuming Canditian economy, worth 126 trillion Candies a year, is led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Book Publishing, and Retail. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 92,554 Candies, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Translators have been hired to deal with the varying regional accents during national political debates, witnesses have to run a gauntlet of mob enforcers to testify at trials, the nation is ravaged by daily union strikes, and prohibition has allowed a Maxtopian immigrant known only as "Nipples" to establish an illicit breast milk syndicate. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Canditia's national animal is the Sylveon, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Canditia is ranked 38,059^th in the world and 77^th in The Union of Democratic States for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 184.93 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
