The People's Republic of Kanora is a very large, orderly nation, renowned for its ban on automobiles, free-roaming dinosaurs, and frequent executions. The compassionate, cynical population of 199 million Kanorans are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized morass — juggles the competing demands of Defense, Welfare, and Administration. The average income tax rate is 84.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but inefficient Kanoran economy, worth 8.29 trillion réals a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Uranium Mining, Book Publishing, and Cheese Exports. Average income is 41,672 réals, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Tax revenue is often intercepted by international accountants before ever seeing the national treasury, signs stating "You Must be This Tall to Enter" have started appearing outside retirement homes, strange looking men with big red noses are found hiding behind bushes and inside dustbins, and the installation of street lights across remote goat tracks has left citizens bemused. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kanora's national animal is the owl, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Kanora is ranked 26,054^th in the world and 596^th in The Communist Bloc for Safest, scoring 111.04 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
