The Democratic Republic of Bovrilika is a massive, safe nation, ruled by General Secretary Bovril with an even hand, and notable for its rampant corporate plagiarism, anti-smoking policies, and irreverence towards religion. The compassionate, cynical population of 2.267 billion Bovrilikans are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Queldro. The average income tax rate is 91.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Bovrilika's national animal is the Liverbird, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its national religion is Atheism.
