The Hell of Chez Satan is a gargantuan, efficient nation, ruled by Baal Zebub with an iron fist, and renowned for its compulsory military service, frequent executions, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless population of 27.623 billion Hellish are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The minute, corrupt, pro-business, well-organized government, or what there is of one, is primarily concerned with Defense, with Industry also on the agenda, while Welfare and Environment receive no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Pandaemonia. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient Hellish economy, worth a remarkable 5,617 trillion currencies a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Gambling industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Soda Sales. Average income is an amazing 203,350 currencies, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,883,615 per year while the poor average 2,098, a ratio of 897 to 1.

Baal Zebub's media campaigns take a hiatus around exam week, churches now double as dungeons, parents often ask to see a credit report before lending money to their own children, and there's no weight to modern politics. Crime, especially youth-related, is all-pervasive, probably because of the absence of a police force. Chez Satan's national animal is the bacteria, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Satanism.
