The Political Parties a brief overview

The United States of Anglealnd is a former Parliamentary Democracy which at the Conclusion of the "Bloodless" Civil War was abolished and a Federal System was instituted. The voting method of all elections is the single transferable vote and therefore all citizens enjoy proportional representation.

As such the two party system enjoyed in many nations has given way to a multi party system below is a breakdown of the main parties in Anglealnd

The Social Liberal Democrats

A centre to centre left political party, currently the largest the party in the Nation. Traditionally seen as the party of progress the SLD were the fiercest campaigners on the reform that lead to the Federation of the Nation along with the Green Party and Socialist Party (historically known as the Progressive Alliance). Committed to the progress of the nation using the only system of government that they believe can work in Social Democracy.

The Conservative Stablist Party

The Party of the Right in its previous history it was considered the Party of Government, however it deeply opposed the Federation of the Nation, is extremely pro business and during the "Bloodless" Civil War lurched further to its right flank. The party adopted the name Stablist as it believes too much change will cause an instability to the nation and the nation should revert back to the devolved parliamentary democracy of its past. Seen as the party that is so pro business they believe private enterprise is the solution to every problem of society, and that class is an unfortunate but necessary order of society.

The Social Republican Labour Party

A Centre to Centre Right Party, traditionally seen as the party of the working class, it changed its position and became more focused on the middle class, Pro Business but not exclusively, the SRLP was the only party of the right to campaign for the Federalisation of the country, this is the second biggest party in the nation. Very Neo-Liberal Conservative in its approach.

The Green Party

A party of left to left centre, as part of the Progressive Alliance it campaigned for the Federalisation of the Nation. At its core the party is committed to the Green Revolution, what it describes as a new way of looking at business, society, healthcare etc. All of its policies are put through this filter, the party is the third largest and its known by the parties of the right as being an unofficial wing of the SLDP as the two parties will often work together, though they far from agree on everything.

The Socialist Party

The Socialist Party of Anglealnd- Those on the right consider this party to be on the fringe, though this would be a characterisation of what the party stands for. The Party advocates Democratic Socialism and is the party responsible for implementing the welfare state and National Healthcare for all when the party at one time was the elected government pre federalisation. The party enjoys a friendly relationship with the other centre to centre left parties and was the final member of the Progressive Alliance, however while Democrats and Greens will work with moderates from the more right leaning parties. The Socialist Party flat refuses to work those it considers to be enemies of the people and who in their words serve the seductive of all human masters greed.
