The People's Republic of Tracoa is a huge, orderly nation, renowned for its compulsory military service, punitive income tax rates, and stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 337 million Tracoans are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defense, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 66.3%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but inefficient Tracoan economy, worth 12.2 trillion Tracoan lire a year, is highly specialized and mostly made up of the Trout Farming industry, with significant contributions from Arms Manufacturing. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 36,173 Tracoan lire, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

There's a shortage of swinging hot spots as land development grinds to a halt, many politicians are serving jail time for minor drug offenses, a little pushing and pulling is needed for big ships to pass, and travellers are often forcibly evicted by torch-bearing mobs. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Tracoa's national animal is the Polar bear, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Tracoa is ranked 212,496^th in the world and 1,163^rd in The Communist Bloc for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 31.94 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
