Penguin Dictators wrote:Just popping in to say pretty much what Moot said better.

We all have our biases, our dislikes, and folks we just don't vibe with one way or another, and that isn't something that can easily be changed. However, the point is to be the bigger folks and not do things to provoke others that we have those dislikes/biases for...especially folks we know will very easily react negatively towards even the smaller slights. I'm a bit disappointed that I wasn't paying enough more attention to the RMB to catch these things to tell folks to stop it on this front, but I'm more disappointed at the fact that people did these things which I'm at least 90% sure they knew it was going to spur those negative reactions had Dragon caught on to what was being said.

Likewise though, Dragon, I mean this with much respect but you have to learn to take things in stride rather than getting upset for little thing. Like Moot said, the reason these things happen the way they do is because folks know you're going to react to them. Unless someone is directly insulting you by calling you names or making threats or saying legitimately hateful things (in which case we HIGHLY recommend talking to one of the Regional officers/Discord operators if this is happening), you really have to learn to not take things personally. People are going to have disagreements, and you have to learn to accept that not everyone is going to agree with your way of thinking...and that's totally okay. Folks are going to RP things you may not agree with, and that's also okay so long as it doesn't break our RMB RP rules. If you think someone is doing something in an RP specifically as an insult to you, lean on the Regional Officers such as myself, Stigya, or even Wintermoot...we won't steer you wrong. But like Marzipan told you on Discord about not announcing when you block folks, not everything on the RMB needs to be a spectacle when someone RPs something you don't like. Announcing you're leaving the region or blocking people every time someone does something you don't like won't get you the reactions you want: on the contrary, it'll more than likely invite even more negative reactions from folks who don't see you as genuine in your feelings or who think you're fishing for attention.

Short version: Trust the mods, don't make it a big deal on the RMB since that will only fan the flames for more negative responses. If we see you being treated unfairly, we'll take care of it the minute we see it since that kind of behavior doesn't fly here.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Well it’s “be nice, don’t do things that you know will make others irritated, if someone’s doing something that you think it’s directly targeted to you tell a regional op, and don’t try to get everyone’s attentions when you’re leaving the region or gonna block someone.”
Something like that :P

Um, descriptions help. The better or more something is described, the easier it is to visualize it all in your head, making it more enjoyable to read.

I need to get in touch with real life more so I decided to temporarily quit the Wintrean Community. Since no one really liked my roleplays I might as well stop doing that for a while. I focused too much on my useless RPs. I also have lots of interests about math and science but I think NS distracts me. I am also trying to learn chess openings and techniques but I am addicted to NS. I will quit for maybe 1 to 2 years… If you enjoyed my RPs, thank you, but I think it is time to focus back… For a redemption.

Before leaving, I wish to know your favourite Icebergian Character throughout the imperial to Rapid Advancedment Age.

Hey guys! The Frosty Bugle is here with your chill rundown of this week in Wintreath: an introduction to Summersend and how you can make this year's festival a success, Arenado does lots of Werewolf stuff, and voting...lots of voting. Your Chill Rundown of This Week in Wintreath

Too Long; Didn't Read
What can I do this week?

A Word from the Monarch

Wintreath's Ghosts of Summersend Past

Come with me. To Summersend. ooOOooOOOOoo!

The Summersend Festival is on! This year's festival will run from August 26th to September 4th, with a Dungeons & Dragons Fantasy Roleplay Theme that was nominated by Marzipan (New montith). If you'd like to run a booth or event for the festival, check out the Linkplanning topic that Michi (Penguin Dictators) has put out. We'll detail all the fun and games you can expect in one of the upcoming editions.

But in the meantime, I wanted to talk about what Summersends past.

The Creation of Summersend
Summersend first came into being in 2015, after I experienced the LinkSummer Festival on Neverwinter. That festival included events such as splash attack, flower gathering, and a corn and chicken harvest. By the time I'd experienced all these events I knew I wanted to bring a summer themed festival to Wintreath, as we hadn't had a festival for awhile and we were in the middle of the NationStates summer lull. To allow for planning and try to tie it into our winter theme, we decided to have it in late August as a festival to celebrate the end of summer and the coming of winter.

Summersend by the Years

  • Link2015: Our first festival was a humble success that was dominated by casual events, including a water ballon game I created that was inspired by the Neverwinter splash attack game. We also had a tavern for casual roleplay, mad libs, and Michi's silly hat booth, which has since become a mainstay of the festival.

  • Link2016: For our second year, we continued with more casual events, but also mixed in games such as Clue, Nomic, and multiple mini-Werewolf games, reflecting the growth of our forum gaming scene. With the combination of the two, this festival outdid the first in both topics and posts.

  • Link2017: This was our first themed festival: Beach Cove. For the first time we experimented with game nights, featuring Civiliation V, Town of Salem, and attempts at Poker and Diplomacy that didn't work out. We also had a Summersend Arena game, a new forum game to Wintreath at the time, and an awards show that recognized the winners of each game and event.

  • Link2018: This year's event was themed Spooky Summer, which was nominated by Michi and selected by the Cabinet. For the first time, a new forum game premiered during Summersend: Spam Wars, a spam-based game of conquest with its own basic map. The game was so popular it raked up over 3,400 posts and temporarily knocked the Wintreath website offline. We also premiered other high-post events like Skyscraper, and Elbbsas wrote an escape room game just for Summersend, which was also popular.

  • Link2019: For the first time we opened the selection of the theme to Citizens, who voted Food and Fun Survival Guide as nominated by Emoticonius. We also brought another new forum game to Wintreath: Mage Wars. This game was like an online version of Battleship, where players guessed coordinates in hopes of finding another player's tower and destroying it. That year we also played Avalon, 40 Questions, and Clickwar, which was an updated version of Spam Wars where players could click the tile instead of posting it.

  • Link2020: This is the last year we ran Summersend, as we experienced a huge drain in activity for most of 2021 (a period now known as the Entropy Era) and couldn't pull a festival off. That year's theme was "Summersend Regional Park", which was nominated by Gerrick, and included an "Into the Woods" Werewolf game, an exploration Choose Your Own Adventure, Cards Against Humanity card creation contest, and more.

We won't let that happen this time...

And Now
After a year off and with the Wintreath community surging once again, I'm excited that we're putting together another Summersend Festival! We're early in the planning, but there's a great vibe and a lot of excitement about what we can do this year. And I know it's going to show by being one of the best festivals we've had yet! Stay tuned for more about what you can do at this year's Summersend, and until then stay frosty.

-Winter

What's Happening Now
News from Wintreath

LinkSummersend Planning Topic Up!
Jarl of Culture Michi (Penguin Dictators) has put up the planning topic for this year's Summersend Festival, as mentioned in the article above! If you'd like to run a booth or an event, or you have a fun idea in the D&D Fantasy RP theme, please let us know at the link!

Link"Lynch" Banned for Hosts in Werewolf Games
Thane of Werewolf Arenado (North Gralend) announced a rule banning the use of the word "lynch" for Werewolf hosts under the Werewolf Code of Conduct. This was in response to a Linkproposal by Neon where she noted the negative connotation of the word and the fact that other Werewolf/Mafia communities are phasing out the use of the word. Players are still allowed to use the word, but are strongly discouraged to.

LinkWintreath Mid-Year Awards Continue
The humongus Mid-Year Awards put together by Michi is still open for votes! Vote for Wintreans in categories as silly as "Most likely to be voted out as scum day 1 in Werewolf" and as prestigious as the Finest of the Mid-Year and Spirit of Wintreath awards, which are for people who went above and beyond and for people who encompass our values as a community, respectively. There's 17 other categories, so if you like voting, here's your chance! Voting ends on August 6th.

LinkWerewolf Host Bidding System Proposed
Arenado also proposed a system where prospective Werewolf game hosts would bid for upcoming game slots, with the host/game being selected by the Thane of Werewolf and perhaps a committee. They believed that this system would allow a variety of hosts and game types in a fair manner, while critics argued that it would be bureaucratic, burdensome, and disadvantage hosts that tended to rewrite their game mechanics. Arenado has since proposed a hybrid sytem, and discussions are ongoing.

LinkGuide for Werewolf Hosting System Published!
In what's been a very busy week for them, Arenado also posted a guide showing Werewolf game hosts how to use our Werewolf system, from starting a game and adding players to advancing phases to ending the game, this is a helpful guide that's a must-read for anyone wanting to host their own game in Wintreath! It may also be of interest to players in the Werewolf scene to know how this system works on the host end.

Hi guys wanted to say that i released my definition of superpower, the definition is based of 6 stats and you can see it here in the bottom of the factbook bellow, if you have any comment either you dislike the definition or like it i would like to know so i can keep making the definition the most up to date and accurate. As a heads up i use 2 different terms, superpower and great power/major player. and as you will see superpowers apply to 6/6 of the stats while great powers apply to a minimum of 3/6 of the stats. making superpowers>Great powers/major player.

Diplomacy:

by Holy spire

Spirean diplomacy is a weird topic, it can be random, because the Spirean government only cares about the best outcome, due to that, it can use some weird strategies to obtain what they desire.

There are 2 special ranks in the internal diplomacy with Holy Spire,

The autonomous regions: basically puppets but with an elected government.

Friend of Spire: Whoever is granted this title has their independence fully guaranteed by Holy Spire, along with the promise of spirean investment.

Definition of Super power(Spirean Definition):

To be a great power, a major player. in holy Spirean terms you need to have 3/6 of the following stats. If you have 6/6 of these you can consider yourself a Superpower.
