It seems like 2 years of being unchallenged by outsiders have left the nobility here quite literally drunk on power, and now they turn their sights on each other, ready to pounce on each other once Black Flipper and Carsei are vanquished. The initial ice between her and most of the people here have melted, mostly in part to the squires scurrying in and out effortlessly, bearing letters of some news or another. Horrified expressions turn into a mask of indifference, hiding the internal calculators that are furiously at work. Angrodus Stormsong, in particular, seemed startled, asking why would the Queen temporarily detain Admiral Nelson, if her lip reading can be trusted. “I don’t trust him,” Calacula looked beside her with her eyebrow raised, at the brown cat who was now wiping sauce from her whiskers with a cloth, “Angrodus Stormsong is not one to let someone as influential and useful as Kody Nelson get detained, and with Master Nat Fenn on that same table one would expect that he would know first.” Calacula hummed, if only she had known more, however for now she would content herself with the Melgale wine, after all, it’s not like something this nice would be a common sight. . Meanwhile, another coyote was trying to navigate through the massive crowds, keeping a tight hand on the letter bearing news of an attack on the fleet that the Black Flipper has in the Atlantic. While indeed the attackers had retreated, the damage has been done, a good third of the fleet was underwater. As he was worrying about Black Flipper, he bumped into a rat, who apologised and quickly sank back into the crowd. So far so good, he thought as he glided through the street. He approached a bridge as the rat bumped into him again before dashing into a building. He barely had time to curse at the rat before a trio of guards entered his field of vision. The one in front sniffed the air before turning to him and growled something to his companions. The coyote picked up his pace, this letter has to get to Calacula, however, the guards, sensing that he was heading for the bridge, decided to make a beeline for it too, so he ran. “Squire Sandpaw,” wait how did they know my name? “halt and hand over the poppet or be arrested in the name of the Queen!” What poppet? He didn’t carry anything like it arou-oh...the rat. The civilians around him scattered, clearly frightened by the rare stomping of metal against stone. He reached the bridge, and heard the yelp from behind, followed by the crash of metal dropping onto the floor. Sandpaw risked a look behind, and saw the leader crumpled on the floor. As he reached the end of the bridge he heard another two more yelps, followed by two more heaps of metal on the floor. However, the dull and urgent tolling of the bell from a nearby cathedral heralded the barking of orders. He retreated back onto the bridge as guards rushed from the palace, stopped from running back across by the sight of a few plumed helmets already forming up on the other end. Letters be damned, Calacula will live without this news, with that traitorous thought, Sandpaw ran to the railing of the bridge and vaulted over. Instead of the clear blue water however, he discovered to his horror that he was bound to land on the yacht below. He felt the impact on his right arm, heard the sound of his bone shattering on the deck of the ship, but no pain registered yet. A second later another impact rocked the yacht, before the guard that had decided to take the leap of faith onto the yacht growled, leveling his halberd at some unseen figure, “Sylas, wanted by the crown for conspiring against the realm and multiple counts of murder.” “Oh, I’m famous.” The guard roared and charged over Sandpaw, his boot somehow missing him completely, a small mercy really, and raised his halberd in an attempt to meet Sylas’ spear only for Sylas to drop it. His surprise was short lived as Sylas sidestepped the now outstretched halberd and slammed a heavy fist into the helmet. As the guard staggered back, Sylas grabbed his spear and thrust towards the dog, except that it caught on the breastplate and not flesh, resulting in Sylas getting nicked by the tip of the halberd, drawing a thin line of red across his fur. The otter took a step back, and another, and another, the next two steps brought him next to an open door. Again, the guard charged and Sylas stepped into the door at the last moment. He grabbed the ranged first weapon he could find, that is, a hunting rifle of the very same corrupt official he was beating up on this very yacht, most likely for the sick act that is hunting for sport, and loaded it with a tranquiliser. Gods know what on earth this peacock does to those he hits with this. He waited until the guard appeared in the door and fired at the exposed neck, smiling as the dog yelped and collapsed. He approached and removed the helmet, huh, so he is the friend that Horace had mentioned so often, looks like he would have to postpone his plans for a new gun, pity. . Meanwhile, atop a building, Zosha was mentally patting herself on the back as she watched the yacht drifting towards the sea. Nat Fenn on her end also wiped the chat, though she wasn’t really worried about anyone entering three sets of passwords needed to open her phone through sheer luck with only three tries each. She looked up at Angrodus as he held up a single coin, made from four radiating rings from the center. Of course, the center is made from Sunstone, followed by Moonstone, wood and diamond. Angrodus offered it to Alpha Wolf, accepting it only after a full minute of deliberation, “only two people can hold this coin without collapsing eventually, me, as its creator, and you, the person entrusted with it, anyone else will...feel drained when holding this for a prolonged amount of time.” Nat Fenn drops the next statement on Alpha Wolf before anyone adds anything, “welcome to the Circle, then, I hope you would not have to see us use the vast influence we wield here.” Kai spoke up, as if lecturing a child, “I will have you know that such hopes would be quashed in a matter of days.” Thane raised a finger, pointing at the sky, “says the one who held onto his wish of seeing the druids for a whole month when he was infected by the Rot.” Kai snarled, “the Bane was after you first, whelp, if I didn’t send you tumbling to the ground you would be the one with this hand,” he held up his left hand, and everyone recoiled to an extent, their faces twisted in disgust. Nat Fenn looked down once for the contact of Thomas Draco, and was relieved to see the affirmation from him that he had told the Navy that hostage negotiations would begin with the Fisher of Souls, for the first time since a kill-on-sight order was given for him.
