It's -14C and people have been out of power for 24 hours. Your tax dollars are going to save lives.

So my hometown is currently out of power. Thank god I’m not there but I would prefer if they had electricity.

At the very least this storm is building up the base even more for skiing on friday. Gonna shred some good slopes

the schemes to heat the water are of course much sillier and elaborate. But that should be fine as well. I can get a trickle of power from solar to heat a little water, but I'd rely more heavily on just heating water with a grill. The math to know how much to add is pretty simple. Still would be a pain.

If global warming was real none of this record breaking snow would exist

I'm going to see if I can't insulate the tank, and even better, insulate sealed buckets of hot water like a big thermos as well. I'd really like to have as many redundancies as possible though.

doubt I can pull off meaningful insulation with what i have though. Like sure, wrap it up in cloth but that's gonna be all.
