Overview

The 'Ipachi' is an overarching name for a variety of ethnic groups who share similar ancestry. Originating from the floodplains and lowlands of modern-day Ainslie, many Ipachi left the area by boat in order to find better land. Fables spoke of the powers and wrath of the people north and west of them, likening them to evil and fallen gods. Fables ran down through generations, warning people to not expand in that direction. This forced some of them sound, with the Ipachi who left, now known as the 'Kenari' collectively leaving for better land. The Ipachi throughout their history were talented shipbuilders and navigators. The main star they navigated around was known as Kenaris. This constellation was worshiped under ancient Ipachi belief, as it was described as a god looking over the Ipachi, guiding them home and to greater things. The Ipachi had an intention to return to their homeland once it was safe and the near seasonal floods were gone, but this return for many 'Ipachis' did not happen until recently in their histories.

History

To be converted to paragraphs in the near future, once the overall history is confirmed.

  • Ainslie, 11,002BC - The Ipachi people embarked south, east and west on finding new territory after their experiences with seasonal flooding. The Ipachi who remain, become the Irachi.

  • Samudera, 11,000BC - Ipachi of the Karaiki-Novonen people in Gael reach Samuderan archipelago, landing on Sanggar Island

  • Samudera, 10,900BC - Ipachi sailed from Samudera to cross Gulf of Tapatka and landed on Sharr Peninsula on Fujiraha

  • Samudera, 7,000BC - First monument built by Ipachi was found on Ran River delta

  • Linaviar, 3,500BC - Ipachi migrants arrive on the northwest coast of khenamali, becoming one of the first peoples to reach the islands of Linaviar.

  • Samudera, 1,600BC - First city arose around Ran River delta

  • Samudera, 1,000BC - Ipachis spread to Eastern Samudera Islands

  • Samudera, 500BC - Ipachi became Buddhist

  • Athara magarat, 500BC - Athara Magarat is exposed to Buddhism after Ipachi contact.

  • Athara magarat, 400BC - Some Ipachi traders settle in Athara Magarat and begin trading with the natives

  • Razzgriz, 124BC - Passareebu settlers cross into Osica from neighboring islands forming their own petty kingdoms in the southern and central parts of the island, the most prominent being the kingdom of Üstrad, based around the modern-day city of Marjuni. This invasion forces Native Iskarians to either integrate or flee north making Ipachis the most prominent culture group in the archipelago

  • Razzgriz, 42AD - Central Osican Ipachis are gradually forced south as Oseans begin to expel them from their new domain

  • Razzgriz, 132AD - 2nd Osean Invasion of Osica occurs in under the leadership of Razz Iah "the Great" and ends with the neigh total domination
of the Island of Osica and nearby islands to the south. Believed that his experiences with having an Ipachi nanny raise him lead to his political integration reforms and the orchestration of numerous strategic marriages between the Native Iskarians and Ipachi within his domain and prominent Osean families. Oseo-Ipac identity begins to form just south of the cloud mountains, considered a subgroup of Oseans.

  • Razzgriz, 1325AD - Many smaller contingents of natives and Ipachis in Osica are wiped out, either absorbed by the Üs, Oseans, Kassov or Creacì cultures prominent on the island resulting in the archipelago's second largest demographics shift knocking the Ipachis from being the largest group present on the island and giving rise to an Osean majority, backed by increased birth rates.

  • Razzgriz, 1597AD - With the incorporation of the Hangate of Sanggar, the EEI becomes a majority Ipachi state through its overseas territories in the Torangese Sea the free-flow travel of its citizens allows more Ipachis to emigrate to the mainland and mix with the Osean Population. Over the coming years the Oseo-Ipac population begins to see a massive rise in its population, spurred on further by the nations claim to be the Protector of the Ipachi People.

  • Razzgriz, 1613AD - When Rama Kita, heir to the throne, married a Sanggaric Prince in order to ease tensions with the Khas-Kirati Empire and aid her father in usurping the title of Han of Sanggar marked the demographic power shift from Oseans to the Oseo-Ipac as their wouldn't be a pure blooded Osean on the throne following the death of Rama Kita in 1704. Ipachi culture is embraced by the royal family for the first time.

  • Samudera, 1640AD: Many Ipachi descendants are converted to Christianity following the Holy Expedition

  • Razzgriz, 1665AD - 3rd major demographic shift as the Oseo-Ipac population begins to exceed that of the former Osean majority. Oseo-Ipac culture begins to swallow up Osica's and Creacia's inland pushing the Osean, Northern Osean (not really Oseans but Creacì, Creacian Wars leave such a bad taste in the Osean's mouth they attempt to reinvent their culture), Üs, and Kassov people along the coastlines.

  • Razzgriz, 1665AD-1906AD - through the colonization efforts of the EEI many enclaves of Ipachis are scattered throughout the world

  • Samudera, 1981AD - Some Samuderans, including those who belong to the Ipachi become Whindist as a result of an expedition of missionaries from the Church.

Roles and Status

In Ainslie:
Many historians classify the three ethnicities in Ainslie and compare them to the traditional three classes of society. Of these three, the Ipachi were often referred to as the lower class of the three ethnicities. Constantly plagued by the natural disasters experienced, the Ipachi in Ainslie (further known as Irachi) had little chance to develop, but due to the cultural bondage that the Irachi had with the Arnish over these natural hazards and disasters, the Irachi were well regarded in Arnish society as resilient people who had gone through so much.

The Welling however, saw the Irachi as a subset of Arnish (Which is inaccurate unless you trace their origins back to the Karaiki-Novonen). They saw the Irachi as the most uncivilised among the uncivilised folk and had very low standing in the eyes of the Welling. The Welling, however, used the Irachi as talented shipbuilders and practically treated them as slaves. Due to the effect the Arnish had on the Welling, these divisions to not exist in modern society. The Irachi are commonly among the lower and middle classes today and have gained a reputation for being 'battlers' in society. The effect of the Arnish and the Irachi on modern Ahnslen culture can be seen through this concept of being 'battlers' in society and the creation of 'mateship' as a social code of conduct. 'Mateship' was typically between the Arnish and Ipachi, but soon enough the Welling accepted it. The notion of "givin em a try" is centred on this idea that everyone is born equal, and people should be able to access opportunities equally was another one of the ideas the Arnish brought to the Irachi and to wider Ahnslen society. Irachi are viewed as equals today due to the significant investment by the Arnish and Welling settlements to safeguard the Irachi against significant disaster. There is no difference between the three ethnicities today, and are often regarded to as 'Ahnslens' together. This is despite the Irachi belonging to the Ipachi group.

In Razzgriz:
There are two groups which descend from the Ipachi in
Razzgriz. There is the Oseo Ipac (includes Sanggaric and Ahnslen Ipachis as they often marry into Oseo-Ipac families after integration) who make up just under 11m of the population and Isakarian Ipachi, who inhabited modern-day Razzgriz after the arrival of the Passareebu Empire who have mixed with the natives. They number about 1.5m. Ipachis together today form the backbone of Osean society making up a whopping 40% of the total population, even establishing itself in the royal family (Oseo-Ipac). Not much is different between Iskarian Ipachis and their western brethren depending on how much they may have integrated with the natives (such as the Kassov or Yali) they may tend to be a bit lighter in complexion in contrast to the darker-toned and often curly haired Oseo-Ipacs.

Despite the physical differences between the 2 groups both have fully embraced Osean culture in its modern-day form (a mixture of traditional Osean values with elements inspired by the Yali and Sanggaric-Ahnslen immigrants). Most homes in the principality try to find a balance between embracing modern world, while attempting to maintain their traditional ways such as tribal face painting, adulthood rituals like the Flight of Rho (Osean version of the Kula Ring), great house marriages (the family name of the newly wed couple is determined by which family has the most prestige accumulated via years of service, wealth, tangible domain and social status among peers.

Speech by Polar svalbard

Hello TWI it is me, Polar. I'm running for SoRP since no one else seemingly wants to and I don't want the office to just sit empty, nor do I want to have Van take on too much more work as I'm sure it makes NS less fun for him.

If I become SoRP I mostly just want to make sure that new players are able to adequately get help during this transition time especially as many members are less active due to exams. I don't think I'll do too much in regards to the overall formatting and whatnot of the office that SoRPs like Ainslie and Dorm contributed to, although I'll try to keep up nationbuilding stuff and promoting RPs. A big thing I want to do though is find someone who will want to take over the role of SoRP and ease them into the role and get them more up to speed on the role so that the whole weight of the role is not wholly dropped on them, I think that might work better in getting someone to be SoRP for a longer period of time. We'll see how that goes.

Honestly I think it would be fun to be back in the role although if someone like AM also runs or someone you believe will fill the role in well please vote for them. Consider me more of an interim SoRP as I've done the role before. Hopefully as the summer roles around we all get more active, I know I'm going to start being more active.

Thanks TWI. Much love, Polar.

Speech by Brulafi

I am Brulafi, and I am running for SoRP. I'd love to help bring new people up to speed on our storied roleplay style and community, and to make myself answerable to the community at large to ensure we're all on board! I'm pretty epic and only one other person is running (to my knowledge) so we need some competition. My speech is short because I believe in brevity.

I am Brulafi and I approve this message.

This is what I got for my overview so far. I think it's going pretty good. I just don't feel it's good enough. Any thoughts?

Yes, so long as you don't spam them. Usually it's myself posting new/updated aircraft dispatches or Athara magarat discovering a "new" long-established animal species.

Edit: Or AM's long-standing crusade to genetically map the region's population.
