*remembers when*

Growing up in the U.S., I watched the evolution of many things, cellphones in particular.
I am old enough to remember when phone numbers actually used letters in them.
And long distance was calling the next city.

Nowadays, we carry what essentially are pocket computers that can do amazing things you'd never associate with a communications device.
I can speak to, even look at while I'm speaking with, anyone globally, and think nothing of it.
I can experience the world in a vastly diversified spectra beyond which, mine own oem shell is ill equipped to experience/sense.
I have a universal translator in my hands that allows global interaction.
I have a globally accessed search engine that allows me to learn about my world on the go.

Amazing....

Sorta reminds of something from Star Trek. The video calls and universal translator. Heck we can literally address a computer "Hey Google" ask a question and get an answer. We a virtual reality which while not exactly a holodeck is still somewhat similar (holodeck makes illusions that are more "real" as in you can eat hologram food shake hands with a hologram person etc while virtual reality just shows an animation/video.) It's pretty amazing what cell phones and technology in general can do. Who knows what might be invented 50 years from now.

Invented ?
Probably.
Suppressed ?
Most certainly.
Fought for ?
Maybe, depends.
