I mean, one of my countries is supposed to be the Bootheel of Missouri that seceded from the U.S., but it's in one of the Pacifics. Anyhow, I play the issues. I don't do much with the regions except as a setting, I suppose. What makes a region a good region? | |

I made a portrait for the leader of my evil island,  Premier for Life and Even After That, Cristina Causa-Travesuras of Sant-Valentina First, Sant-Valentina is fully fictional but inspired by quarantine islands for the criminally insane. It is set on Haiti's (known in The Rough Caribbean as La Douleur) island, Tortuga. Until recently, the electoral process in Sant-Valentina involved spinning a wheel of fortune with possible outcomes such as "Hold Free and Fair Elections," "Steal Someone Else's Crown Prince" or "Invite Billionaires to Bid on Becoming Our Dictator." The last wheel spin landed on "Install the Winner of the Regional Beauty Contest as Leader." Thus, the young woman who won the crown and sash at Miss Rough Caribbean four months earlier now also won a country. It's possibly not a coincidence that this particular pageant winner was also a criminal mastermind... Not much is known about Premier For Life and Even After That Cristina Causa-Travesuras. Sant-Valentina's population is comprised of multicultural misfits from all over the region. It's possible she's not native-born. Her LinkedIn page says she has a PhD in Manipulative Foreign Policy from Universal University of Barbania. From Pinnacle Peak School of Law, she received a master's degree in Ethics Prevention. Cristina is trained as a computer hacker and in digital media manipulation. She is fluent in six languages (Spanish, French, the locally spoken Creole, English, Portuguese, and Mandarin) and is skilled in Muay Thai and Krav Maga. As Ms. Causa-Travesuras' favorite setting in Star Wars is Mos Eisley, she has always wanted to live in a "hive of scum and villainy."
