"kino" comes from russian for film, people use it to mean to describe when a movie is not just a movie, but like a cut above. aesthetically/narratively amazing, or just enjoyable in an untouchable way. then it kinda bled out into just anything that's really aesthetic/cool.

kino means cinema in German. "ins Kino gehen" which means "going to the cinema"
