Since the military situation of the NCS, with the Pests severely weakened and almost surrounded, was getting better by the day, this was a perfect moment to send diplomatic envoys to his old and new neighbors.
To the Directorate, which ties had already been established, the President himself decided to go, alongside the chosen diplomat to establish the Confederate embassy, as was decided in the last meeting with the Directorate's representative, slowly signaling their enter inside the other's territory, alongside his Whitwshirts guards.
To his newly acquired neighbor to the North-East, the VTU, Secretary Monroe was requested to go, because he proven his diplomatic capabilities when he first met the Directorate, he would cross the Appalachian mountains towards Virginia.
Lastly, to the South a new faction was individuated, so Secretary Pickett was sent there to establish first contact, hoping it would be a friendly one. Their envoy would march south from Montgomery.

Revolution of the Industrial Variety

Harrison knew that the time has come to finally repair the railways across the Trade Union, and if his information from Jeremiah was correct then these Directorate folks would also be linking their soon to be repaired railways up with their network, if nothing else it would dramatically raise the profits of trading in Directorate territory if nothing else. The President has filled out a document, detailing his exact orders and how he wants them done, and immediately sent it to his Council to have them carry out his will once again. First and foremost they would divert some prisoners to begin repairs on the railroads across the Trade Union, with actual contracted construction engineers watching over the project and the prisoners being constantly watched by Trade Union soldiers, the second order of business was to ensure the Trade Union's territories were being properly protected while the railway project is underway. The Council, obviously, followed the President's orders exactly as they were laid out to them, diverting the proper resources to repairing both the railways and sending patrols of Trade Union soldiers to the outskirts of the Trade Union's borders.

------------------------------------------------------------

Larry, more commonly referred to as 'Loco' by his prison mates, was unsure of what to feel once those Trade Union stiffs dragged him and a good few others out of the city in chains. On one hand they're finally out of that damn prison but on the other they could be marching to their deaths, guess that's why a couple others tried to run despite being chained up to one another. They were beaten and thrown back in line by those soldier boys pretty quickly, one of them even got shot after trying to fight back. So, then and there, Larry decided to move forward and not fight back, his sentence is almost up anyways so doing so would just earn him more time in the slammer. Once they made it to one of those ruined railroads they lined us all up, a man walking out in front dressed in construction worker attire and pulled a clipboard containing, he guessed, a list of prisoners. After a moment the man cleared his throat, "Welcome prisoners-" The man began, voice loud enough for all of the prisoners to hear, "As directed by President Harrison himself you lot are gonna be working on the railways rather than sitting on your asses all day in a cell, of course if your crime or crimes were minor then you'll be set free once the railways are completely repaired-" The man paused for a moment to check the clipboard once again, "Alright… We will be breaking y'all up into three groups, groups A, B, and C. Then you all will work until the sun sets, we have others on hand to take you through what needs to be done… And lastly we thank you for your assistance-" After that the man walked back, a couple of the more dangerous criminals trying to reach out and probably ring the man's neck but failing miserably. Larry only had one thought as the soldiers began to break them into groups, 'Guess my sentence just got extended huh?...'

Revolutionary middleland

Homeward Bound (Part 1 of ?)
Domestic Post 1

"Do you want to give your people a survivable life?" A early Kansan philosopher would ask before the time of Revolutionary Middleland's control of the plains.

Lop Bop wheezed in laughter.

-

Pheobe Martin was a survivor like any other. Originally born around Topeka, her family moved to the Minneapolis area to connect with a branch of family separated by the war. Leaving brothers and sisters back in Kansas, she did not know about the horrors that happened more than five years ago. Having started a new life up north, she married and made a name for herself. Her husband, Jace Martin, urged her not to leave their quaint new wooden house but she insisted that she needed to find her siblings and bring them back so their family could be whole again. Since Jace was the breadwinner in the lumber industry, she was the only one that could readily travel. With an apprehensive and tearful goodbye, her rusted car sped down the road towards an unimaginable nightmare.

Having been ignorant of all the bloodshed in Tornado Alley, the scarlet-haired bombshell drove enthusiastically southwest through the emptiness of the plains, intentionally steering clear of the devastated urban centers. The borderlands looked eerily emptier than usual, but Pheobe attributed it to just increased bandit activity- nothing too serious, nothing her 10mm couldn't handle. What Pheobe couldn't explain was the eerie fencepost signs hastily left by the escaped.

"The reds are batsh*t crazy..." The majority of the warning signs issued only this message.

Reds? Socialism was a dead ideology, they must have just meant a few aggressive bandits and thieves, that's all! With a brazenness of steel, the border was crossed. Even on the dirt paths, the woman was confused at the emptiness. Where were the family farms and houses which used to dot the hillsides. Surely, her map and compass did not fail her. As she advanced towards Topeka, she passed the sight of a small seven year old boy, a battered black tunic covering him with a red scarf tied over his left arm. At the sight of the car, he sprinted back into the thicket of trees, scared for his life.

She parked her car in the midst of several trees and shoulder-high shrubs with the Topeka City Limits just ahead. Even when she was home, she knew not to leave valuables in the open. Hoisting up her cherry red backpack and stuffing her gun in her holster, Pheobe was ready to return home.

Suburbia looked like a total nightmare. When she called out, nobody seemed to answer. Total extinction. Even in the apocalypse, there were kids playing volleyball using the ashes of burned down houses as sand for their games. She hurried along the long-cracked sidewalk which seemed dislodged- almost harvested in places. The biggest red flag laid in the houses. Bullet marks riddled almost all of them, doors were broken down, and there was an unusual amount of broken glass in the street. Something happened here. With a hand on her holster, she walked down the winding path towards her old house. What was once a faded yellow was now totally white and peeling. Pheobe did not need to unlock the door, for it was already broken. Gun drawn, underbarrel flashlight on.

The place looked totally looted and smelled of rot and ash. Years of family life were gone, and the lightless house was checked, room by room until she came towards the bathroom. When she saw what was inside, she almost vomited. The ceiling was blown wide open by what looked to be an explosive force. The tiles seemed to be manually removed and a short pit laid just beneath her toilet, where several human skeletons were haphazardly crammed into. It was a young couple, posed in a way which looked like they were holding each other, trying to protect themselves. Bullet casings littered the inside.

The woman bolted out, but the foot of their collapsed dinner table tripped her up and sent her flying down. Disoriented, she tried to grab onto the nearby recliner for support, but shrieked at that too, for the rotted out skeleton of a large dog laid on it, its ribcage broken and a hammer laying on the ground.

The reds are bat sh*t crazy...

By the time she got up, the bile forced itself out and Pheobe stumbled back onto the devastated front porch. When she came in, she had missed the petrified remains of bullet casings. She ran down her old neighborhood, now knowing that all of her neighbors suffered a similar fate. There was a broken trench in the middle of the road, in which rebar spears lodged themselves in ancient skeletons. This was the sight of a battle, the battle which lead to the slaughter she had just witnessed. Road by road, she had just made it to her brothers culdesac. The house was completely absent, no body, no ruins. A plot of land vaporized like the rest of the houses. She was just about to investigate before the click of a hammer behind her froze time itself.

"Not of middle citizen! City dweller! Look you form!"

Pheobe stuck out like a sore thumb, in a red t-shirt and a pair of rough and sturdy blue jeans. The barrel of the gun forced her left, in a march with her arms up. Several more clicks. All around her, the glazed-over eyes of a fireteam of four of Middle's soldiers were on view, adding to the one behind her. That same uniform as the kid. All of them had M16 rifles, except the hostage-holder who was decidedly using a sawed-off based on the feeling of the barrel against her. Cold fear coursed through her body, not known since she almost lost her life from that caravan siege.

"Come with Middle. Middle see you. Middle the mighty needs know who you are!"

Middle? The f*ck is that?

The Secretary listened closely to what the officer had to say, and was pretty glad that he was being brought to their leader.
Seeing that the captain had himself proposed that, Monroe took the chance to try to learn some valuable information: "Our reports are only initial, so there are lots we don't know about the Trade Union, apart from the name and a few more things, so the list of things I'd like to know would be pretty long. Can you tell me the first things that come to your mind when you speak of your country? To give some general ideas, you know."

But that project has only recently started, it will take some time before the labor groups get out here." The captain answered, continuing forward as a caravan passes by the patrol group.

Secretary Monroe thought for a moment about what the other had said: it was clear that the Trade Union was pretty developed if it had already managed to start repairing its railroads, and they also must have been pretty rich, if all this focus was on trade, but that should have been expected by someone called "Trade Union".

Manufacturing Edict by the Presidium and the Secretariat in Regards to the Prefectures of Morehead City and Williamston

With the establishment of a nascent navy and a sudden, general halt to overall construction of additional warships until it is determined that they are required, the Manufacturing Bureau and the Commissariat have been left with an overabundance of material that they otherwise have no real use for. To rectify this, one bright Commissar has suggested that the Commissariat finally put steps towards acquiring an air force with which to further secure its dominance of the battlefield via supremacy in the sky. Rightly intrigued by this idea, Strategic Command raised the idea in the Presidium and received approval to begun constructing biplanes.

Kentucky Fried Radroach
Part 8

As the 4th Confederate Infantry had wiped out the Pests from southern Kentucky, they now had to secure the East to ensure the savages remains in the North had no way to escape their slaughter.
While advancing in the hilly terrain, soldiers and officers were far more calm than in the last days, finally not having to fear to be ambushed by the raiders and their mutated insect mostruosities.
Following the contorted remains of the old roads, the NCS soldiers arrived in the first settlement of the Region, named Hazard, expecting to be received as liberators as all the other places that had been previously occupied by the Pests, but instead they were met by arrows and rocks raining upon them from the hills.
For some unknown reason the locals were unhappy of their presence and were actively trying to block them from entering their city. The Confederates had little chance but to engage fight: the high ground of the wastelanders made dislodging them from there more difficult, but they had neither the numbers or the tech to stop their assault, so they were quickly overrun. Once the NCS entered the settlement, many understood why the inhabitants tried to resist: there were no signs of previous Pest's occupation, so the locals had no reason to try not to defend themselves from the advancing Confederate forces.
Upon further questioning of the non-fighting inhabitants, they found out that indeed they had never heard of the Pests. Many officers tried to find the reason for this, and the most accepted answer was that the territory was too difficult to occupy for the raiders, in spite of not having much in the ways of resources to pillage. This meant that indeed they shouldn't met other raiders in their way, but also that the locals would actively try to resist being conquered.
The next settlement to fall was Pikeville, were a small museum with some CSA artifacts was found, and that also explained how during the Civil War neither side really controlled the area, as the difficult terrain made it difficult except for when a full army was present in place: it seemed that once again history was repeating itself.
Last settlement to occupy before leaving the area (and many were glad to finally do so) was Paintsville, or as many soldiers renamed it "Pain-Ville", as it was by far the larger and better defended of the towns in the area: after a pair of unsuccessful attacks, to avoid taking further casualties, the leading officers asked for a cuople of the newly-acquired artillery guns to be deployed in their support. They surrounded the settlement and waited for days, but when the artillery finally arrived it repaid the wait: after only 20 minutes of shelling the hill where the locals had entrenched, the defenders surrendered to avoid being annihilated.
This first deployment was a total success: when the soldiers arrived, they how the makeshift defences of the wastelanders had been completed destroyed by the bombardment, and pieces of bodies were scattered everywhere.
Now that this was over, the 4th could continue its advance.

Knights of Capitalism Part 2: Drums of War

Newark had once been a massive city, linked through rails and highways to its close neighbor, New York. Only a few months ago it had been part of the Silverhawk's empire, but now it was under new management, with the great eye that never slept "protecting" it. Now, the Enclave marched towards the city intent on liberating it. The Pinkers, rather than attempting to guard an entire wall around the city, had constructed or repaired a series of buildings to serve as guardhouses and barracks. These would be the target of Enclave forces. The Pinkers expected an Enclave attack from the north, and they had correctly guessed that, however, they had not predicted how powerful the Enclave was, having only ever battled with Raiders or ghouls hordes before. Enclave forces from Camp Autumn attacked with Vertibird support, striking at the structures that served as guardhouses and barracks closest to the north, while squads of soldiers in combat armor advanced, their laser weaponry completely negating the kevlar suits of the Pinker guards. Caught completely off guard by the raw power of the Enclave, the Pinkers began a fighting retreat, alerting garrisons further in the city by radio and hoping to buy time while a more cohesive defense was establish. But despite their best efforts, the Enclave forces pushed in, taking the outposts one at a time, rapidly pushing the Pinkers south and devolving the battle into a street by street fight. It became clear early on that this fight would be, at least morally, more complicated. Whenever civilians did get caught in the crossfire, both sides were willing to call temporary truces and get them to safety before resuming the fight, and some Pinkers offered to surrender once they knew the situation was hopeless, even helping to reassure the various caravan groups who had relied on Pinker protection that they would be treated well within the Enclave. Within hours, the city was taken, with a few dozen Pinkers being taken as prisoners of war to be rehabilitated and integrated into society. The assets of the various conglomerates the held trading authority over the city were assessed to determine if action needed to be taken to break them up. Meanwhile General Beckett, who had led the attack and was indeed leading the campaign, had begun to realize that even if their leader lacked it, many of his employees had a sense of honor, and perhaps she could use that to dismantle his corrupt empire without spilling more blood.

Ambitions
(Domestic Rp Post)

Clayton Todd watched as a few construction workers attempted to rebuild the old Richmond town hall, a clipboard in his hand and occasionally yelling out orders to the workers. Clayton knew that Harrison only appointed him here in Richmond to get as far away from Ashton as possible, Harrison always believed him a possible threat to his 'presidency' and he had good reason to do so. Clayton had planned to run against the man in the upcoming election and change a few things about the Trade Union's government but someone must have tipped Harrison off and now he's here, watching over a few workers that could've been done by any of Harrison's Councilmen. Clayton bit back a sigh as he sat down on some nearby steel girders that were salvaged from a handful of collapsed buildings that had no hope of being restored, contemplating whether or not to continue his plan on running against the patriarch of the Gray family, he would need to begin campaigning his nomination soon to even begin to have a chance against Harrison. He wasn't stupid, he knew that Harrison would just rig the votes if he suspected him to be a threat and maybe find a way to exile him from his current office.

As Clayton was sitting there, contemplating his path moving forward, a man dressed in a black suit with a matching fedora that obscured his face walked up to him. Before Clayton noticed the man he sat next to the government official, pulling out a card and handing it to Clayton. Clayton, now noticing the man and raising an eyebrow in suspicion, took the card and took a look at it. The card had what seemed to be the man's name and the services he provides, after a moment Clayton looked up at the man, "What…?" Clayton tried to ask before being cut off by the man, "I know you have questions but we must be quick-" The man says quickly, looking around for a moment to make sure no one was listening in, "Me and a group of others individuals have been made aware of your want to become the new President and we support you-" This merely caused Clayton to widen his eyes slightly at the man, he hasn't met anyone who didn't want Harrison to continue being president, "Well… That's flattering-" Clayton is once again cut off by the man, "Harrison is a hard man to beat at anything, but you must know that we support you. To beat Harrison you must stoop to his level, all the informations on that card-" With that the man abruptly stands and turns to walk away, leaving Clayton alone to contemplate further, the card feeling so tempting within his hands...

”... I just want to start… A flame in your heart… In my heart I have but one desire and that one is you… No other will do…”

After placing Vault 20 under Vault-Tec’s wing once more, the staff came to realize one of the Dwellers in Vault 20 shares kinship with one of the pre-war celebrities, Dwight Spears. This descendant’s name was Jamie Spears and has been treated with the utmost respect by the few that knew his ancestors in the Vault. He is a glorified celebrity and often performs stand-up comedy and even produces and performs rock-and-roll songs in honor of his ancestor, Dwight. Some hate Jamie due to his receiving treatment from his peers and fans, which often drags out civil unrest, which after Vault Alpha's annexation, put the issue to rest by increasing the authoritarian traits of the Vault by increasing the security, extinguishing civil disputes faster than they begin.

After capturing Vault 20, nearby Raiders had advanced toward Vault 20 in an attempt to pin them from the outside-in and initiated an ambush as a scavenging team was issued out of the Vault, the scavenging team of 5 Dwellers was massacred and Vault 20’s Security Team took action and formed a firing line to defend the attackers from infiltrating the Vault’s innards. The Vault door was quickly closed as bullets were exchanged, securing the Vault entirely. Some of the Raiders made an attempt to press forward before the Vault door was sealed, only to be caught by the door and crushed to death as it closed off the Vault. The Security Team was put at ease but were wary of their newly-found enemies on the surface. Scavenging runs and surface operations were immediately halted by Vault 20’s Overseer until a proper defense was established. Vault Alpha’s ties with Vault Alpha were also sealed inside Vault 20, as Vault Alpha’s Security Team elites joined the defensive with Vault 20’s officers in the battle against this Raider invasion. Officers were lined up at the entrance with Laser weaponry while the backfiring line laid down covering fire from a distance with flanks on the sides of the Vault’s door.

As soon as the Vault’s emergency door siren blared, Raiders quickly set up a last-minute defense line in front of the Vault for when it opened. As soon as the Vault door opened, officers opened fire on the scrambling Raiders as they were still developing their quick-witted firing line. Most of the Raiders were slain by their horrible disorganization, but few were brave enough to rush the Vault only to be overwhelmed and slaughtered by the sheer force of Vault 20’s & Alpha’s Security Teams. The Raiders that actually were able to find cover returned fire and popped a few lucky shots that hit very few officers. Officers joined forces in providing covering fire as other officers safely extracted the wounded to a safer place inside the Vault. Most of the gang’s thugs were shot dead, which sent the Raiders retreating. Vault 20 was sealed once more, and the Dwellers were put to ease knowing that their Raider problem has been solved by Vault-Tec’s elite defense force.

Proclamation of the Director of the United Prefectural Directorate

To be distributed and broadcasted across all Prefectures by the Informational Bureau of the Secretariat:

"Fellow Citizens of the United Prefectural Directorate, brothers and sisters by the grace of our gods and by the inexhaustible fervor of our administration and its steadfast and courageous army, I speak to you today not as the Director of our illustrious and powerful nation, but as a fellow Citizen and brother to you all. In the span of four years and then some, we have forged a nation that our ancestors can look up with admiration, a nation that will far outlast our lifetimes. By your hands have we built an enduring legacy that our children and our children's children may undeniably bask in and reside without the fear and pain that was a constant presence in our own lives. All that I have worked for, what you have worked for, has been a nation that could impose order upon the chaos of the wasteland, an order where our people can be free to enjoy the fruits of our labor, where our children can see the seasons pass and grow without fear of constant danger. Yet, our toil has not been without sacrifice, how could it? All things require sacrifice, a price that must be paid, and the price of our work has been an undeniable and iron grip upon the rights and liberty of our people. To that end, I, Director John Riddleshaw, am announcing as my final act as leader of the United Prefectural Directorate the first direct elections for the position of Director and the reorganization and democratization of the national government."

"What the h*ll is he thinking?""That's the problem, I'm not sure he's thinking.", to which Victoria sighed and took another drag of her cigarette, impatiently blowing out another cloud of smoke to join the nascent cloud system which had been brewing since she first got the proclamation. "Sam, what are we going to do?""Officially? Nothing. Unofficially, StratCom is in unanimous agreement, we need to hold the fort down and put forward our own candidate when the time comes.". Victoria's eyebrows furrowed and her scowl deepened further, trying to hide it behind another drag of her cigarette. "That's the game plan? Wait and see?""We can't do that until we find a candidate, for which you are best suited for.". Victoria frowned in confusion, before her eyes widened. "Sam, we can't put her up for this.""Why not? She's his daughter, she has a good military record and she is still one of us, right?". Victoria leaned back in her chair and sighed. "I am not sure she is ready for politics.""Jesus, Vic, she won't be thrown into the deep end, StratCom won't just let her survive or die on her own, not in the Capital.". Victoria rubbed her eyes. "Alright, I'll talk to her, lay the groundwork, but I need time.""We all do, John f*cked everyone's plans with this stunt. Get it done and I doubt she'll forget her friends when she's in charge.". Victoria waited until she heard the click of a cut connection before putting the phone down and sighing.

Sam had certainly gotten a lot more into politics and the way he was talking about one of her subordinates like a Securitate handler told her enough of his change while in the Capital. She paused, before grunting in amusement and turning to the silent observer in the room, asking bluntly, "Well, Cathy, think you can take the old man's shoes?". Commander Catherine Riddleshaw stood up from her seat and walked over to stare out the window into the smoggy sky of Morehead City, quietly saying, "I never expected it, really. To do so otherwise would reek of nepotism and entitlement. But I have been called,", turning to look at Victoria, "And I will answer it. There is much to be done.". Victoria nodded, mentally noting the moment when she decided to back a contender for the throne.

The Lieutenant stopped saluting "My apologizes sir I was merely intending to treat you with respect. Also yes lets." He along with his squad proceeds to guide you to Jacksonville.

The Sovereign Corporation of Ivan Industries

Fires of Industry IV
With the foundries in Jackson and Adrian finally online, Ivan was finally ready to undertake the most ambitious project of his post-war corporation to date - the repairing of the Brembo Brakes foundry outside of Jackson. Ivan had fond... well, not-so-fond, memories of working there as a young teen fresh out of high school. It was where he had discovered his ambition and talent for business. When Brembo went belly-up like most European automotive companies in Europe in the wake of the Resource Wars, Ivan had bought the factory (and the rights to the brand name) and kept it in business, expanding and renovating the foundry to accommodate more and different kinds of steel products.

Those renovations would come in handy now that the were about to repair it. The factory was in halfway decent condition despite the centuries, albeit featuring a few collapsed roofs and rusted-out machines. Many of the plants on the machining side would need to be completely rebuilt. On the bright side, though, it could have been worse. The biggest labor force yet seen was recruited from nearby Maharlika to work alongside the engineers that would be directing them.

Once this foundry was done... then the Sovereign Corporation could move on to the real manufacturing. For now, ammunition for the rifles would have to do.

The Director hummed as they entered Jacksonville, before simply stating, "Certainly something then."

Fires of Industry I, pt. 3
The opening of a foundry right there in Adrian had brought almost instant prosperity to the Durlings. Overnight, scrap prices tripled as that foundry alongside the one in the Jackson sucked up scrap like hungry tornadoes. While they weren't struggling to meet the demand - yet - they were on the verge of being caught flat-footed in being able to meet the demand. That would change, however, once the Brembo foundry had been repaired - then they would be short.

Operations would have to be expanded if they wanted to keep up with the demand, so the Matriarch pulled together their new-found profits and began making plans to expand their operations. South Bend, Michigan City, Niles, and Kalamazoo were all still fairly untouched sources of scrap, and the Matriarch spent quite a bit of time negotiating with the local polities for the opportunities to open up salvage yards there. The Fire Keepers of K'Zoo, in particular, were reluctant to let the Durlings touch the ruins, but after some haggling reluctantly allowed them access to the ruins with the express provision that they would not be allowed to harm the habitats of creatures within.

With permits in hand, the Durlings proceeded with their expansion plans.

Upon entering Jacksonville its clearly a city that while damaged by the war has actively been rebuilt into becoming a sprawling hub of growth as the city is seeming to be booming with growth and activity. After they arrive at the capital building of the Republic which has decorated solders guarding it in suits and the flag of the Republic flying above it.
