Restoration of Eastern Kaiserreich wrote:

There once lived a great King whose power was only less than that of the spirits in the land. One day, his wife fell sick and her doom was certain. The King spent many evenings weeping in his garden until he was visited by a spirit one night. An old, ancient serpent had heard his cries. Quickly, he bowed to the great creature.

“Oh, you old serpent! For what purpose do you visit? Have you come as an avatar of death?”

The serpent shook his head. “No,” he answered. “Your wife will die in three days. But I have appeared to offer an exchange for her life”

The King grew hopeful. “Offer your terms. I will satisfy each of them.”

“You hord much land and treasure. However, your greatest possession is your face. The sight which has made weaker Kings bow with your devoted subjects. It will become a tribute to me.”

Now the King grew weary. “For what purpose to you? Why must it be my face?”

“I have already explained. Your perception is of unmatched strength, but that is not true. Before me you are prey. This way you will be humbled and devoted.”

The serpent’s words shook the King. Yet his desperation outweighed his fear. He blamed his arrogance for his fate. “I will offer tribute here before you now!” The King ordered his servants to restrain him and remove his face. The flesh was then offered to the serpent and accepted.

“You have done well. I will save your wife and your people will know my dominion.” The serpent bit the King and healed him. His face remained disfigured, so he hid it for the rest of his life. Three days after that his wife recovered.

"... The world "val" in Easunian and has historically referred to the Havaluthen region. Its translations in Valish include realm, land, area, etc..."

". . . The appearance of Easunian Sovereign Javad Nazeri is distinct most notably because of his mask. But leaders like Reza Zangane and Albert Ferdinand (who never concealed their faces) are outliers. Masks have served an important custom of rulership all the way back to ancient Haval. Disturbingly accomplanied by self inflicted scarring of the face.

The idea here is that once a new Emperor ascends he loses his individuality. He lives solely for the sake of his people, his nation. So, he conceals his face to symbolize this fact. And this also ties into why he recieves a new name. What matters isn't who the Emperor is, but what he represents. Nothing against or outside his dynasty which was the House of Easario for centuries.

In the most extreme cases (especially during times of crisis), Emperors would scar their faces to emphasize this. Often in front of his subjects. Now this has led to several examples of emotional reconciliation and other touching interactions between Easunian Emperors and the people. And that's in spite or actually rather because of how morbid it is. He woulf wear his scar out in the open until his people deemed him worthy enough to conceal it.

Now, the tale of the Serpent and the King is one of the oldest texts in Havaluthen. One of the oldest in the world. It's pretty short, but it's still tells a lot. It provides us one factor or explanation of how this part of Havalite, then Easunian culture developed. It's also possibly the first appearance of the demon Waiyaba. Now that is the most exciting part!"

Anywho I like the academic analysis format, and it does explain something that I'm surprised I didn't even question before, which fills out a part of the lore quite nicely.

Throughout the bombings and attacks in Rajyam, the notable population of Cardonian tourists that allowed some of the terrorists to blend in to in the first place did not heed the warnings of their homeland. While those who were unwell, those who had families with them would leave on the next flight of Londiff, a good deal of the individuals, those who's families were back home and those who came with friends, would stay behind. for each W.C terrorist that burned crops, destroyed roads and burst water pipes, there would be Cardonians that followed, suggesting to the local governments to covert the public parks and green spaces into allotments for the regrowing of food, Cardonians that would help rebuild the roads and reconnect the cities, Cardonians that would ensure that water rations are spread equally and prioritised to those in need.

As the Terrorists had their punishment, there would be Cardonians cheering, crying out at their distain for the W.C, Shouting in rage against the traitors. The worst would be the New Cardians, those that had friends or family in the city when it was destroyed. Rocks and stones would be pelted at the terrorists at any opportunity they can get, growing so far that occasional rocks would be thrown at the burning terrorists. as the sun slowly set, the shocked bystanders would hear the small cheers and whoops of Cardonians grow as they found each other, celebrating the death of the terrorists on the streets in whatever way they can, from a makeshift parade to filling any Bar or restaurant, fortunate or unfortunate depending on the employee's view, that they could come across. Rajyamese Social Media would be invaded by Cardonian Influence, declaring that the Maharaja's Punishment has been more just to the People who were lost in New Cardia, then the more 'humane' firing squads that faced the W.C back home.

By the dawn of the next day, the citizens of Rajyam would be slightly bizarre at how overjoyed their Cardonian guests were at the execution of the terrorists. However, slowly but surely, as they browsed their social media feeds, turned on the news and walked in the main streets, they would see crowds of Hundreds of Cardonians, bearing signs and chants demanding to join the Rajyamese Armed forces, as all would've been turned away during the night. The Crowds worked fast with their media, printing flags bearing the Cardonian flag, the green replaced by the orange, of signs showing the Cardonian Owl and Rajyamese Lion side by side in unison. Slowly they would begin marching towards any of their local Provincial Capital buildings by the small hundreds. However this would be a drop in the bucket compared to the Imperial Palace, with thousands present to demand their own, independent entry into the war, seeing in exceptional clarity that the Regency has been giving the W.C work, potentially even harbouring the terrorists in their own borders. To them, this will not stand.

The Explosion of support would reach all the way up to Cardonia, where airports would be filled with Cardonians and New Cardians demanding flights into the war torn country, flights that are very few given the travel warnings. Londiff would become gridlocked as the Rajamese Embassy would witness a failed attacked, thwarted by Londiff Riot Control. The Myhenese Embassy, seeing an uptick of protestors outside their doors and gates, would be told to follow their high alert protocols and practise their lockdown drills, shortly being reinforced by a riot team from Harroway.

As of the next 24 hours, no car or person, aside from the Royal Guard, would be seen leaving or entering the National Court after a full session has been declared, with each MC being ordered to the Court.
