Atrocha wrote:Electoral Campaigns Begin for the June Elections; Parliament closes; political tensions flourish

On March 22, 2034, Parliament closed its legislature, complying with the electoral law, since early elections had been called. One of the main campaign themes has been the Public Force Reforms that were not approved in this session, the colonialist policy, the neutrality policy, the economic recession and corruption. The following are the main campaigns launched by the parties, valid until May 31, 2034.

Candidate for Prime Minister: Rodrigo Sosa.
Constituency disputed by the candidate: Ximénez.
Central themes: End of colonialism, protection of free trade, armed neutrality, regulation of abuses.
Campaign jingle: "¡Esta es Tu Oportunidad!" (in Sanctish, This is Your Chance!).

Rodrigo Sosa is betting that citizens will continue to vote for the ruling National Party, which he claims has "modernized" and will "fight against the conflict of interests" and the "unfair distance between politician and people." Rodrigo Sosa was immensely popular as Minister of Foreign Affairs and seeks to distance himself from the scandals that plague Astrid Bethancourt, current prime minister.

Candidate for Prime Minister: Lidia Vélez.
Constituency disputed by the candidate: Alto Sereno.
Central themes: Fight against corruption, social spending, stopping expansionism, trade regulations, harmless neutrality.
Campaign jingle: ¡Habla, Pueblo, Habla! (in Sanctish, Speak, People, Speak!)

Lidia Vélez, current leader of the Opposition, remains a figure of positive ideas but very young for the position (she is 36 years old). Her relationship with her previous Socialist government as Minister of Consumption (considered a political position created especially for her) has affected her, but she remains firm that "another four years of the National, another four years in which Atrocha will fall."

Candidate for Prime Minister: Luis Daniel Mejía.
Constituency disputed by the candidate: Puerto Ilustre.
Central themes: solution to the recession, free trade, end of debt, fight against corruption, reduction of the State.
Campaign jingle: ¡Es la hora de la Libertad! (in Sanctish, It's Time for Freedom)

Mejía, 42 years old, is an outsider who has refounded the PRP to a doctrine, which he has called the "liberal renaissance." With a speech in which he talks about "defeating the corrupt political caste", "reforming the State from within" and "returning prosperity to Atrocha without the effort of politics", he has had a strong impact on public opinion and is with Sosa and Vélez the three main candidates.

Candidate for Prime Minister: Does not have
Constituencies to be contested: the Western Provinces.
Central themes: Support for Pandeltanism, free trade, autonomy, less State.
Campaign jingle: Επιλέξτε προστασία, επιλέξτε δημοκρατία (in Sanctish, Elige protección, elige democracia; in Valish, Choose protection, choose democracy)

The leader of the Federal Party, Demetrio Psaras, has announced that his 55 candidates running for seats in Parliament will seek to "improve the situation of the Deltan group and all the ethnic groups of Atrocha", and that "we will support the party that guarantees this." The Federal Party is emerging as a kingmaker in this election.

Other campaigns have been smaller in scale, such as that of the Nationalist Party, which began with a call for the "correct vote for tradition and the homeland," and which still considers "territorial expansion" viable. Democrats have called for the vote for a "freer and fairer Atrocha." The Labor Union has campaigned to improve the status of workers, while supporting Vélez's candidacy, as have the Greens. The Social Diversity Movement, defender of the rights of the indigenous people of Atrocha, Salvadora and Montalba, also supported the candidacy of the social democrat, while the PNAD, located in Goya, has campaigned for the Goya autonomy referendum.

Results of the Goya Autonomy Referendum

After the discussion and approval of the plan of the Department of Goya, an autonomous territorial community composed of two federal provinces and two federal districts (namely, Somé, Playabán, Quilón and Zocodever), a referendum was organized in the Overseas Region to consult them whether they agreed with the measure, whether they were fine with the current system, or, failing that, they wanted independence.

Curiously, within the media and Goya's voting public, independence was barely considered, since the measure of the Department or the current system was what captured attention throughout the week. The "one country, two systems" policy that would be applied to the Department divided the Atrochano settlers and the Altusians and Coyanos. The Germanic immigrant minority living in Goya promoted the Department since it would allow them to open up to a broader market, since with Atrocha the bureaucracy was a lot.

The Altusians were doubtful of the system because their brothers further south had fallen into a guerrilla war and collapses, and they did not want the same fate as their brothers, and preferred the previous system. The Coyanos undoubtedly supported the idea of the Department. The PNAD, Goya's regional party, explicitly supported the Department as part of the "avant-garde plan for regional development." Finally, on March 23, the inhabitants of Goya went to the voting stations.

Of the 834,679 inhabitants of Goya, 57% of the population approved the Department's system, 39% supported the old system and only 2% supported independence, with 1% of white and null votes. After these results, Corales begins to put together the machinery to reform the system, and by June the new method of self-government for Goya will be ready.

Feel like I should support the Federal Party since they support a minority, which would benefit the Estandér citizens of Atrocha.
