Terrabis-Seran wrote:Sara looks at the Empress with... Sympathy?

“My predecessors prepared for a new era of space conflict. It never happened of course, so the few parts of Terrabis-Seran that due produce Co2 and other harmful gases, we collect and place onto the transport shuttles no one bothered to stop producing. Sure, it’s not effective-Yet-as we want it to be, due to occasional pileups, but it does take a weight off of our shoulders.”

Shes sits down and mumbles curses about her predecessors

"So," Mikael says. "You are saying that each year, you launch millions of tons of CO2 into space via shuttles? In that case, I have a few questions. First of all, how is this CO2 collected and stored? I understand that you Terabissians live in underground cities, which would make collection easier, but for most nations that generally isn't the case. Second, how in any way is this economically viable? We need to come up with a solution that works for every nation, and quite frankly launching all of our gas into space is most definitely not in the tables for most nations. Even launching a single satellite is tremendously expensive, so this concept of yours most certainly would not work for most of us. Third, if this is really something you do so often, why would you not inform us sooner? This gas that you release could easily affect the orbits of many satellites. Fourth, and finally, how would this result in anything besides a net-equal in emissions. A single rocket launch is already not good for the enviroment, so dozens of them would likely cancel out any good that this program could do."

Satisfied that his rude outburst has gathered enough attention, he begins to speak.

“All I’m hearing right now is a bunch of leaders pointing fingers at the corporations which keep your nations running! This is not the first time carbon has risen in the atmosphere.”

He pulls out a graph showing where fluctuations in Valsora’s carbon levels happened in the past.

“As you can see, the amounts of carbon in Valsora’s atmosphere rises dramatically roughly every 100 thousand years. We’re currently in one of those high carbon time periods. To say a little carbon is going to kill Valsora is ridiculous!”

“Furthermore, carbon is always demonized. Everyone hates carbon, but plants need it for a process called...”

One of his assistants whispers in his ear.

“Ah yes, Photosynthesis. It makes oxygen, which WE need to live! I am a plant lover myself, so for the sake of the trees, I demand carbon emissions be allowed to continue!”

Sara proceeds to roll a shriveled up plant to Waluigi

“We exposed this to a single canister of our collected Co2 for a week. I wonder how much your plants like being overdosed? I wonder how long a human has until they shrivel up and die from Co2 and bad working conditions...”

“I’ve heard a lot of emphasis on the effects of cars on Valsora’s CO2 levels. However, I don’t think the blame should be on individual consumers. 15 of the largest cargo ships in the world contribute just as much carbon as every single car. Even if we stop using cars entirely, the global trade will keep the temperature skyrocketing.”

Key to sustainable farming costs money to research, Biodegradable materials to transport agricultural goods to retailers and providers and to make the agricultural product say Barley to have a longer storage life, so it can get to point A to B. This will result less but efficient farming, which would result in less arid and fertile land, resulting in a boom for wildlife and vegetation, which would also result in less use of Chemical Fertilisers.

"This is true." Hajira sighs, looking about the room. "Unlike national transportation, ships, with their millions of tonnes of cargo, and hungry engines, cannot be nuclear powered, and cannot be replaced. Does anyone have a proposal for replacing maritime shipping?"

Hajira looked at the graph. After a few seconds, she states; "The graph shows Co2 levels fluctuating from 50-200 ppb, currently we have 400. That can't be natural, or good for the planet, right?"

“Well...”

He sits down to contemplate this.

Maybe we can find a new energy for the ships to work on. Solar panels, nuclear power, wind?

Mikael shakes his head. "Ships are the single most effect method of transporting large amounts of supplies vast distances. All that we can do is try to make them more eco-friendly, converting their power sources to things such as solar or wind power, or simply increasing the efficiency of existing engines."

Near the back of the room, an aide, with long, dark grey hair, intense dark grey eyes, and pale skin, stood. With an icy voice she calmly stated; "A ship has a horsepower exceeding 20,000 per engine, often times with blocks of six, resulting in a power plant the size of an apartment block. They require more power then ten thousand electric cars, without the surface area for solar or size to carry batteries. I can't see whether we want the thousand cargo ships around the world nuclear powered, oil spills are bad enough as is."

“Yes. It’s also worth noting that our constant warfare is no help. It wasn’t long ago that The Death Syndicate started the fire that burned down so much of the Cultic forest, which was one of the largest continuous stretches of jungle in the world. Not only did it kill thousands of civilians, but millions of acres of trees which soak up the air’s carbon were decimated and turned into smoke which still lingers in the air we breathe every day. It might be worth establishing harsh punishments for environmentally damaging forms of warfare.”
