Dengue is a virus that lives in mosquitoes. the kind of mosquito is called aedes aegiptii. The kind of virus is a family called 'haemorrhagic feverous virii'. Haemorrhage means bleeding. So it's related to other disease like Zika, Chikangunya, Rift and Lassa valley fevers. It also includes stuff you mght now like good old Ebola virus and others.

Dengue is basically a rash, temperature, joint pain and malaise (feeling like crap), and platelets dropping. Usually the temp and the pain hits them, they see the rash and run to the hospital. We all have hols in out blood vessels develop for no reason. You need at least 20 million in your blood, usually we have 150-400 mill. So it u have it drop to, say, 50 mill, and u have an injury, u might have a severe bleed. If u reach 20 mill, well, u can start bleeding for no reason into ur eyes, out of yer nose, gums, anywhere. Women on periods are also in trouble.

So we put em in bed, give em IVs, bring down the fever, feed em, watch the platelets, stop them from being breeding grounds for more mosquites, pull blood every so often to look at platelets, and, in my case, go to secluded areas with interested nurses

The dangerous cases exhibit true haemorrhagic symptoms plus fluid in the bag outside ur lung (the pleura). I u have too much fluid there, it makes it difficult to breathe. When it gets bad enoguh, it feels like ure drowning. That's when yours truly comes into play. Also in severe cases, neurological issues can start. Psychosis (going nuts), behavior changes, even stroke like situations that usually go away in 24 hours (if it goes away, it's called a TIA). So one watches out for that. Makes sure they dont get other diseases meanwhile. Don't get bit by mosquitoes. And we try to protect ourselves from being bitten. All-day mosquito repellent, sleeping in stupid tents, wearing a dress that covers everything like a bank robber but white
