The Hi TCB I'm Dad of Namwenia

Good morning Blocheads! Hope it's a good one for all of you...

.....

--We interrupt this super basic good morning post with the following bulletin from your Ministry of Information--

Love the Bloc? Want to help out in making this region more amazing? Consider joining one of our Ministries! Become a citizen then check out our Volunteer Hub Dispatch for more info

THE COMMUNIST BLOC'S VOLUNTEER HUB

Register to join one of the Bloc's important Ministries! Contribute to our future!

DOMESTIC AFFAIRS

What is the Ministry of Domestic Affairs?

The Ministry of Domestic Affairs, or MoDA for short, is the area of government responsible for recruitment, immigration, and integration of newcomers. It oversees the Bloc's manual recruitment program and is responsible for processing citizenship applications.

How can volunteers help?

As a MoDA volunteer, your primary task is processing citizenship applications on the forums, which allows TCB residents to become citizens. In doing so, you make sure the applicant is eligible to become a citizen and does not pose a security threat to the region. The application processing includes doing a background check on the applicant’s nations, checking the content posted by their nations (flags, factbooks, RMB posts, etc.), ensuring at least one of their nations is a WA member, and any additional checks that may be necessary. There are new citizenship applications posted every day, so this represents the bulk of the MoDA volunteer workload.

From time to time, volunteers may be asked (although not required) to assist in other MoDA activities, e.g the purging of citizenships from non-existent nations.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND DEFENSE

Minister Coporiana

What is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense, or MoFA, is the ministry responsible for managing foreign relationships with other regions and overseeing the Peoples Revolutionary Air Force, our military.

How can volunteers help?

As a volunteer for the MoFA, you can help by becoming an Ambassador to another region! Ambassadors diplomatically represent the Bloc in interactions with other regions. They make a good first impression on regions we’ve never interacted with before, and strengthen the bonds between the Bloc and our allies. Ambassadors will be asked to dedicate their time to regularly visiting an assigned region. They will bring news from the Bloc to that region, and bring news from that region back to the Bloc. Ambassadors connect the Bloc to the rest of the world of NationStates.

The PRAF is The Communist Bloc's ever-expanding leftist military. Participating in military gameplay is one of the most popular parts of NationStates, and this channel gives you the detailed rundown on how you can get involved. INFORMATION

Minister Namwenia

What is the Ministry of Information?

The Ministry of Information, or MoI, ensures that the citizens of the Bloc have all the latest news regarding international and regional NationStates affairs. In order to accomplish this, the ministry publishes the Red Standard, a weekly newspaper in the form of a NationStates dispatch. The ministry also creates and updates dispatches containing important regional information.

How can volunteers help?

There are two ways to contribute to the Red Standard: you can either be a Guest Writer or a Regular Contributor.

You can also contribute to keeping the Bloc's informational dispatches relevant and up-to-date. If you want to help us do that, register to be a volunteer Dispatch Updater.

A single volunteer can do multiple jobs listed here or just one, it’s up to you and the level of involvement you’re comfortable with. Volunteers who wish to contribute to the Guest Writer program don’t need to file a volunteer application: Linkfilling out the article submission form will suffice. Regular Contributors and Dispatch Updaters are asked to fill out an official sign-up application.

WORLD ASSEMBLY AFFAIRS

What is the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs?

The Ministry of World Assembly Affairs – known as MoWAA for short – is the area of government that’s responsible for deciding how comrade Delegate Kethania votes in the World Assembly. The Minister is tasked with managing the region’s WA population by posting voting threads, issuing voting recommendations, and overseeing the WA Vote Squad to better mobilize the region on issues that leftists might care about.

How can volunteers help?

Volunteers can assist the ministry by posting the aforementioned voting threads on the forums, helping write up recommendations before they are issued, pinging members of the WA Vote Squad on Discord, and tagging the WA Vote Squad on the RMB to alert them to new votes. All volunteers also automatically become a member of the WA Vote Squad, which is an opportunity to not only discuss upcoming WA proposals, but to determine how the Delegate votes!

Additionally, being involved with the ministry means you’ll be in close proximity to those who work with the WA on a regular basis. So it’s a great learning opportunity too if you’re just getting started and are curious!

CULTURE

What is the Ministry of Culture?

The Ministry of Culture, or MoC, strengthens the Bloc's regional culture by creating fun and creative cultural events, inspiring and managing regional roleplay, and creating art and graphic design for the Bloc. Although there are some tasks which the ministry does fairly regularly, such as creating discussion polls, there is an intentional lack of task constraints to allow members of the ministry to exercise their creativity.

How can volunteers help?

Volunteers have significant freedom, and are encouraged to speak up about the specific ways they would like to contribute to the Bloc's culture. Volunteers may also be asked to assist in running cultural events or festivals, to contribute to roleplay, to make art or graphics for the Bloc, or to suggest creative ideas for upcoming events. As in all ministries, Culture volunteers will never be forced to do something they don't feel capable of. For example, not being able to create art does not mean that a volunteer cannot contribute to the ministry in other ways.

The Republic of Sublation nation

Hey, I started Sublation Nation with the name inspired by Hegel's concept of Aufhebung ("Sublation" is the English translation of it). I try to avoid getting obsessive over the start. I only selected "centrist" government and "capitalism is on the way out" at agree. It started me with a mixed economy or "democratic socialists" still with a capitalist economy. I realize that starting with a socialist economy in the game starts you off with an economy down in the dumps. It started me off with a "fair" economy. I am wondering if I choose an answer that switches me fully over to a socialist economy, if the economy will take as much as a hit as starting the game off that way?

I would prefer to play the game with a feeling of progression. I actually think I may have started off with too high of civil liberties etc. because after a couple questions they are already very high. I would prefer to keep playing this nation though, to keep the name choice. I'm just also concerned about the economy. Maybe if it downsizes after seizing the means of production I will enjoy rebuilding? Or maybe I will feel like I lost too much progress.

Any answers to my questions and concerns or suggestions on enjoying that aspect of this game?

NS Stats can be all over the place. Some folks, when they roleplay, entirely ignore the stats. Some folks ignore them so much solely to get certain banners. If you want to actively make sure you tailor your nation's stats to the results you want, I suggest a) checking on what the results of your answers are. Here's a good place to do that http://www.mwq.dds.nl/ns/results/

And b) skipping questions that don't help you reach whatever goal you want for your nation. Good luck!

Sometimes NS Stats are a mystery. The link I posted above can give you an idea of how answering questions impacts your various stats.

hi, welcome to the game and the region! you can definitely play for the statistics for a very long time--there are some players that spend years trying to maximize their desired statistics. sometimes people pick a more niche one they like to max out, like trout fishing. one thing that's very helpful if you want to get that feeling of progression is using this website that will show you the potential outcomes for any issue option you select (http://www.mwq.dds.nl/ns/results/). checking it lets you make the decisions that will best maximize your desired stats, and avoid ones that would tank your desired stats.

almost all nations start out with rough economies, especially if you pick socialist. however, you can definitely recover your economy if you do switch over to socialism--as you can see on my stats page, my nation is a left-wing utopia, and still has an 'all-consuming' economy. the older your nation is, the bigger it gets, and the better your economy stats will be. i think it's probably easier to switch to your desired form of government now and take the stat tank while your nation is still new, then build the economy stat up over time. and like i mentioned before, people can play with their stats for years & years, so you don't have to get in the mindset of "losing too much progress" this early into your nation.

if you enjoy a sense of progression, you might also enjoy some other aspects of the game that are progression-based! if you endorse our delegate Kethania and then run the

[nation]Ink Cloud[/nation], REP
command, you'll be given a list of other nations in the region to endorse. the more people you endorse, the more endorsements you get back, especially if you politely ask for them. you can ultimately collect up to 175, which some people find very fun, since it gives you a super high endorsement statistic (175 is more than most delegates in the game have--big region perks) and you get to watch the numbers of people you're interacting with go up. and for our citizens in the discord (i'll link the dispatch about how to apply for cit below), manual recruiting is enjoyed by some people--our custom discord bot sends you links to pre-filled telegrams, which you can send to new nations with just a tap, and over time you get to watch people you've recruited join the region, earn medals, etc. we also have multiple government ministries you can participate in and a leftist military, if any of that sounds like it would hit the right spot for you! hopefully this isn't too long--it seemed like you were taking the game fairly seriously, so i wanted to give you plenty of information about how you can maximize the experience

How to Apply for Citizenship

A guide by the Ministry of Domestic Affairs

Greetings, Comrade! Would you like to become more involved in The Communist Bloc? Would you like to hang out in the official Discord, vote on regional legislation, volunteer to help improve the Bloc, become a brave pilot in our regional military, or even run for office yourself? Then you need to become a citizen! This guide will help you become a fully-fledged citizen of The Communist Bloc!

There are two requirements you must meet to gain citizenship:

- Having a nation located in The Communist Bloc

- Owning a World Assembly (WA) nation. The location of your WA nation does not matter.

To submit your citizenship application, you will need to create an account for our forums.

To create your forum account, follow these steps. The process will be demonstrated with screenshots.

1. Navigate to Linktcb.red and press the register button in the top right.

2. Fill out the registration form. It is highly recommended that you attach your account to an email you use specifically for NationStates purposes to ensure the privacy of your personal information.

3. You will see this message, which means a confirmation email has been sent to the email address you provided in step two. Open that email's inbox, find the confirmation email, and select the "Confirm your email" button. If you do not see a confirmation email, check your spam folder.

4. You will be redirected back to the forums, where you should see a confirmation message.

Congratulations, you've successfully created an account on our forums! If you experience any technical difficulties during the creation process, you can ask for help troubleshooting by joining our official LinkDiscord and pinging @Masking.

Now that you've created your forum account, it's time to submit your citizenship application! The process is very simple and will once again be demonstrated by screenshots.

1. Go to the LinkNaturalisation Office subforum.

2. Click the button in the righthand corner which says "Post Thread.".

3. The page you will use to submit your citizenship application will appear. First, create your title in the "Citizenship Application: NAME" box. It should be in that format. Secondly, introduce yourself in the main text box below the title.

4. Answer each of the application questions. If you don't have an answer to a question or the question isn't applicable, answer it with "None"

5. Press the "Post Thread" button. You have now submitted your citizenship application!

It will likely take the Ministry of Domestic Affairs approximately 1 to 3 days to process your application. To prevent electoral fraud, applications are not processed during election periods, but will be checked once the election ends.

Once your application is approved, you're officially a citizen of The Communist Bloc!

Now that you're a citizen of The Communist Bloc, we encourage you to explore the many opportunities available to citizens!

  • Join the Linkregional Discord! Post the link to your approved citizenship application in the lobby channel and ping @Masking.

  • Inquire about volunteer opportunities in the Discord! Every volunteer helps the Bloc grow and improve.

  • Join the regional military, the People's Revolutionary Air Force, and help take down conservatives and fascists across NationStates!

  • Browse the forums for any legislation being debated or voted on!

  • If you haven't done so already, endorse our World Assembly Delegate Kethania and Vice World Assembly Delegates Shamian, Pajonia and The Workers Union of Habsburg-Lorraine.

Once I built a bullet train and my civil rights went up. That was bizarre, but nice.

Technocratic-Socialist Utopia of Space wrote:how did growing kids in labs decrease my civil rights?

Because this game kinda sucks. But also I have to imagine it's because it's an idea that makes people uncomfortable, and this bias bleeds into whatever system determines stats (within a margin of error given they're apparently semi-random), but they'd never actually reflect on why it makes them uncomfortable (vitalist humanism, an attachment to the """sanctity""" of organic reproduction). People are horrified by anything that undermines essentialist and anthropocentric myths, the same sort of reactionary impulse that drives the materially-baseless opposition to stem cell research, or the paranoid fear of synthetic life in general, even queerness, homosexual parenthood, gender transition, etc.
