Long story short, quaternions are sets of numbers that can describe a 3D rotation with basically dark magic which is 4th Dimensional mathematics described in terms with a real component multiplied by multiple imaginary components. Just imagine this: A number line, but there is a perpendicular set of imaginary numbers (imaginary "i" set) that form a plane with the real number set. Now, add another perpendicular set of numbers perpendicular to that plane (secondary imaginary "j" set; pretty sure it's the fourth roots of negatives). Now, imagine another set of perpendicular numbers (tertiary imaginary ("k" set; pretty sure it's the 6th roots of negatives) that form a line of cubes extending forever, like how the number line never ends. Congratulations. You now have a very basic visualization of the fourth dimension.
