 The Oppressed Peoples of Issues Test Bed | Things I've learned from working Derek Chauvin's trial so far: —George Floyd was actively resisting in an escalating manor from his arrest going forward. We've all seen the video of him on the deck under Derek Chauvin's knee. But how many of you have seen the video of Floyd struggling with four officers trying to get him into the police car? —Several network talking heads (I believe one was CNN but cannot absolutely swear to it) told us that Floyd was dragged from a police car and thrown on the street. That is not true. The four officers wrestled Floyd into that car, three on Floyd's side and one on the other side guiding him in. Once in the car, Floyd kept going under his own power, over the officer trying to guide him into the car, and out the other side. To make sure this is perfectly clear: That is a prisoner attempting to escape custody. —We were led to believe that choke holds were forbidden by MPD policy. Not true. In fact, at the time of Floyds death, officers were permitted to use a blood choke to render a rowdy suspect unconscious if the need arose. —We were led to believe that kneeling on a prisoner is absolutely not allowed. Today the defense turned up an MPD training manual in effect at the time of Floyd's death, not only teaching the technique in detail, but complete with pictures on the proper way to do it. —The videos and stills captured from those videos the networks and activists are showing everyone are all taken from an angle that shows Chauvin kneeling on Floyd's neck. However, bodycam footage shows that Chauvin is actually on Floyd's shoulder with the knee sticking out over the neck. This is clearly the case when the paramedic checks Floyd's pulse. Chauvin did not move so much as a millimeter, and yet the paramedic was able to reach in and check the carotid pulse. Had Floyd been in either a blood choke or an air choke, the paramedic could not have done that without moving Chauvin. I still think Chauvin and the rest of that crew screwed up. I think that screw up will rise to the level of criminal. But this is no where near what the activists and talking heads on your TV, who seem to be dead set on burning down this nation, would have you believe. Those talking heads are no better than the lynch mobs circling the city promising to "burn this $#!+ down" if Chauvin is not found guilty across the board. In fact, they are right there with the "protesters" blocking Minneapolis intersections and terrorizing people unless they "Honk for Black Lives Matter." Frankly, the impression I get is this city is going to burn whether or not the mocking bird is killed. | |
