A [Somewhat Reluctant] Desire for Co-Operation, in the Concern of Peace An Official Government Announcement on behalf of the Consul and Senate.
Dear Lignuntiani and others,
It is with profound suffering in our nation and a desire for Peace and Co-Operation that we announce the Official Entering into Dialogue with the Government of the Respublica Socialistica [Of Lignuntiae] to negotiate a Large Scale Amendment of the Tracta Diolcentianum which saw the partition of our nation some Four Years ago, we hope to meet with Prases Justinianus Longinus in the Comitium in Iuno and conduct in peaceful and respectful dialogue; the idea of Integrating both Lignunti entities for all Lignuns to be more connected, amicable and respectful to one another. This comes from recognising the Horrors of the Conflict in Iuno, the Brutal Civil War that preceded it which resulted in the Partition and the longstanding grievances between Lignunti Groups in both Nations, we as Lignuns no matter what political allegiance can not stand just injustice within our nation, hence we hold peace talks, a Agreed Upon list has been drafted by legislators from both the Senatus in Aquitania and the one of Constantinopolis, it is as follows:
-Removing the Travel Restrictions to and from both Entities -Disbanding of the Grenztruppen in Place of Populo-Limitanei -A Solution to the Pressing Issue of Iuno, the Province and Region of Central Italica and Tiberina -Jurisdiction and administration of the Holy City of Iuno -Increased Co-operation between Government Entities, Law Enforcement and Legalities between the entities -A Non-Aggression agreement, and pledge of neutrality in case of a 'Sponsor War' -Allowing Safe Passage of the Trevea Augusta Royal Family more...
This is confirmed by Praeses Justinianus Longinus and Prime Minister Publius Secundas during a Address to the Nation from the Nervan Palace in Constantinople, he is glad that he can sow Healing and reconciliation with the Western Entities as he promises a Peaceful Solution over Iuno and the other points posed.
So, ive recently been trying to design some flags for Hanamishima (Im using my QQH rp break to get more into vexillology), and I would like to ask you guys a question before I make some more flags, especially the military flags.
So the question is if you guys think it would be right to utilize symbolism close to the kyokujitsuki flag (Rising sun flag). I am asking this because I am aware that the flag is considered highly offensive in some areas of the world, especially in areas controlled by Imperial Japan back in ww2. And when I ask to use stuff similar to the flag, I want to make it aware that I absolutely am not, and will not be defending anything that Imperial Japan did in ww2 (While I believe that they were better during Meiji's time, especially considering factors like their massive red cross organization during 1905, but even then, 1st sinno-japanese war, and the colonizing of Korea is still despicable and imperialistic).
I would like to say that I would consider using something inspired by it, mostly because it is a very aesthetically nice looking flag. (again, not defending anything that was committed by anyone flying the flag). And because it is one of the main symbols of japan and their history, which Hanamishima is obviously based off of.
If you couldn't already tell, the current flag has part of the IJN Admiral's flag in it, and I mostly included it because of the relation to japanese symbolism, and the connection with Burgundaen. And the next flag I designed had something similar to the main IJA flag, although different.
I am also asking this because some of the base concept flags for the navy of Hanamishima look like this: https://imgur.com/a/CujcbO7
But, yeah, I hope you guys understand what Im trying to say, and sorry if it comes across like im trying to justify Imperial Japan, or making it look less bad, but I am mostly doing this because it is one of the main symbols of japanese history, and its hard to base much off of the Hinomaru (one without rays, and was/is the non war based flag of japan for hundreds of years). But please keep in mind that Im a white american, so I havent really been exposed to a major stigma around the IJN or IJA flag, and am still trying to figure out how bad it is and what cases are ok. Although, I would like to say that I know much more then the average american in terms of japanese history, so yeah... Im not ignorant to some of the conotations, and this is why im asking about it first.
Edit: i would like to make it more clear that I also wasn’t defending the imperialism started by Meiji, and that i was just stating that japan during his time was far better then when Tojo was ruling (and yes, i know Hirohito was emperor at the time, but as far as it is confirmable, he was mostly a figure head). and i am absolutely not defending the first sinno japanese war or the korean colonization
edit again: I’ve done some more research on first Sinno-Japanese war, and it was a little more horrid then i thought, but i still think it isn’t as bad as ww2. but yeah… i’m not even sure what point i was trying to make by bringing up Meiji
alright, but the tldr of it was that i was asking if it was ok/ what the boundaries are, of using symbols similar to the rising sun flag within the flags of Hanamishima
Since you're bringing it up, yes, I would massively prefer it if you shied away from the Rising Sun. The people who I'm partly surrounded by, that being Asian Americans, particularly Koreans (which if you couldn't tell, is the group i belong to,) find the Rising Sun extremely, insanely offensive. It's not even like "hey man, that's uncool, that reminds us of the past" it's literally east Asia's Swastika. If you did something like Burg's which kept the sun's rays motif but avoided directly showing it (they even reversed the colors) that would be cool.
alright. thanks for clearing that up. but yeah, i do definitely plan to change the current flag for hanamishima soon, and pink will be the primary color. but i do plan on using the motif somewhat, however could i ask if the navy flag i designed and linked in the post is ok, or if its too far.
i would also like to say that i do plan on studying a lot more about korean history soon (though japan will always be my prismry topic of history study. as that is where i plan to move to in several years, and where i hope to join into the game market, as i have a massive and i mean massive obsession with nintendo, especially kirby, and just ask nori and he will testify of how over the top into nintendo i am)
and i will probably change up the color on the navy flag to be more obviously pink, because it could be mistaken for red, but it’s definitely pink. And i will probs do the sun stuff as white, like i usually do for hanamishima sun

I have finished the (main)military flags for this account!
These are the flags: https://imgur.com/a/apR1YPG
And I would like to make it clear that these will be the final flags to utilize any symbol close to the Kyokujitsuki (rising sun flag with rays), and the only reason why it is being used in these is because of the association with the modern japanese military (I personally don't support their usage of it at all btw), and to maintain uniformity within the main military flags. And I have made sure that the Kyokujitsuki-esque symbolism is with different colors, and is with it partially covered. (Tho I guess you can make the argument about the fact that the standard of the senior captain of the IJN had inverted colors).
Also, the Marine Corp will be mostly grouped under the navy for now, and I might change the flags entirely later, once I do a lot more of the lore and info stuff for Hanamishima.
yeah, i know. it’s just that i had already made part of the flags and wanted to keep uniformity within the military flags, and that is the symbol that makes the most sense in a military context. so if at any point it ever isn’t ok just tell me and I will change it :)
