| The Moral Marauders of Melon ia | In the absence of the Region Name Times, the Executive would like to present: Committee Calamity Peace Committee Election On the scheduled date of the Peace Committee election, many things went wrong. One of the things that became abundantly clear was that the group of 3 could not pass on a regional vote. This is because Pius II, one of the members nominated by the RARC, was not a legal candidate in the system outlined in the charter. In order to be a possible candidate for the Peace Committee, you need to also be a legal voter. Pius II was removed from the list around the time Melon ia became WAD, so the group with him in it could not be passed. Before the poll was taken down, another issue became clear. In the charter, there is no limit on who can vote on the potential peace committee members. This allows everyone and their puppets -- even non-legal voters -- to vote on the group of 3. This leads to a highly inflated vote count and potentially unrepresentative outcome. In the days since the vote, Acting Speaker Apost doesn't appear to have done anything to fix the problem, nor has the RARC presented another group of 3 that would be put to vote. Sources say that the RARC is working with the speaker on an amendment related to this election process, but it is unclear what it would contain, or what it would change. A Human Rights Movement Socoran Seeks to Assemble International Treaty Last week, Socoran sleeked to schedule an international meeting with the goal of discussing human rights. Apost, Aera Ninel, and Pius Desurongcrandis both expressed interest in the idea of a meeting, though one has not officially taken place yet. It is unclear exactly what terms or morals these human rights will follow, and it is especially strange for the push to be coming from Socoran, a nation who had been criticized previously for prioritizing their sphere over the needs of their own citizens. | |
