Present Day

Penny’s thoughts are interrupted as someone entered the briefing room. “Chief of State,” the man said quickly. “I apologize for the interruption but we’ve just received word from the Sistonians.”

“And?” Winter asked.

“They’ve...called for a cease-fire. The Imperials and Sistonians have both retreated from Ventuan space.”

The news seemed to catch Winter off guard. “And you believe this is genuine?”

“I can’t say for sure, ma’am, but I can say at least the Imperials seemed to retreat beforehand for unknown reasons and it seems that threw the Sistonians into a panic...”

Winter sighed. “Very well, I will contact New Szel and see where we go from there.” She looked around. “It seems this attack won’t be happening after all, but I ask all of you to be on standby, just in case.” She then made her way towards the bridge.

“Well...that was unexpected...” Penny thought out loud.

You know this planet better than any of us, while we have food and sheltered.” The latter was questionable but it was something. “If you rather die out here on your own, then that’s your choice. "I'm with you there, this wasn't something I think any of us expected to happen. With the Imperial backing they had I'd have expected this to go on for a lot longer... but I suppose that backing's gone now."

Heidrun actually found it a bit funny, despite the tenseness of the situation. This wasn't the first time the Imperials had gone ahead and disappeared, and it was even stranger hearing it as she was on her way to a battlefield, partly thanks to them. Not that she was complaining, obviously. She wasn't looking forward to the invasion, and on a larger scale...

"More lives were going to be needlessly lost as the war went on, so I'm glad they came to their senses, even if it took their buddies leaving to do it. Guess I'll have to wait to help you out until another time, then! Or, ideally, not at all."

“At least you’re wont be feeling homesick, and you’ll be able to return to your body. That said...” Penny decided to follow Winter back to the bridge. There they found her addressing General Pellaeon.

“I hate to say it, Winter, but I think we caught another break,” Pellaeon said. “The Imperial forces have left entirely and the Sistonians are doing the same.”

“General, surely you don’t think they’re not just using this to buy time...”

Pellaeon was quiet for a moment. “Considering their motives, I’d be inclined to agree, but this would still put them at a disadvantage if they did have ulterior motives. Either way, we should be thankful they decided to stop.”

“Of course. I’ll be sure to inform the Leitandi and Byzantines what’s happened.” The transmission ended and Winter sighed before noticing Penny and turning around. “I have to apologize, to both of you. Had I known this was coming I would’ve left you two on Earth.”

EXPANDING THE DRUG TRADE
NOVA CANDIA | Erimos, Bactria System | Cymiopolis

Hidden away inside a private lounge of the Palazzo Azzurro with a window that boasts a magnificent view of the blue sandstone city below were Rafael and Governor Barbaro discussing business over a few bottles of Erimoan brandy and some Patagonia cigars. With Trirenian mercenaries having received their first shipment of Ambrosia yesterday on Åkreros to begin distribution in the Trirenian Realms and the rest of Northern Europe, the two men desired to increase their operations. The America's would surely be taken care of by the Palmetto City-based Megistana Syndicate in the New united carolinas due to their Cymiopolitan-heritage. Asia could potentially be taken care of by the Yakuza of The Nippon Teikoku, however it would seem those plans will have to be put on hold due to a recent government crackdown on the criminal organization. In regards to Southern Europe, the Levant and the Maghreb, Rafael recalled one of his black ops scouts stationed in the Stella d'Italia system mentioning the presence of a new consolidated Italian mafia setting up shop deep in the forests of Garibaldi.

"Hmm... the Italians do seem like an attractive option when you consider their stranglehold on the Mediterranean drug trade," the Governor said after taking a puff from his cigar, "But tell me, Señor Beltran-Fuentes, how do you intend on pursuing such a relationship without alerting the authorities in Italia unita and jeopardizing Cymio-Italian relations? We can't have the Signoria, let alone the rest of the world knowing that a narco state operates within the shadows of the Most Serene Republic's government."

"Giosafat, when have I ever put our operations at risk before? Never mio fratello," Rafael replied confidently before taking another sip, "Trust me Governor. The Ambrosia will continue to flow and no one will be the wiser as to who is selling the stuff. We have all the assets of the Intelligence Ministry on our side and a few shell companies for extra layers of anonymity, not to forget WE aren't distributing the stuff."

"Very well Rafael. So how will you establishing contact with the Rosa Nera?"

"I figured I'd just use my private space yacht, the Russian Constellation Cleopatra-class, to take a little trip to Speranzia, go to a random bar and ask for Cirro, the Boss."

"You've got to be kidding me cazzo."siad the Governor, almost spitting out his drink.

"It's cool Giogio. I'll have some drinks, experience the local women, make contact with Cirro, get a contract signed, and I'll be back in time for next Friday's drinking session here."

"Fine, but please don't ever call me Giogio again Raph."

Official News from the Colonial Police Headquarters Bulletin

We are proud to announce the successful capture and arrest of 3 relevant members of the Rosa Nera organization. They were arrested after a blitz in the floating city of Nuova Venezia on the ocean-world Macchiavelli. Unfortunately 2 other individuals managed to escape. While the capture resulted successful the 3 arrested individuals refuse to collaborate and the option of truth serum injection or partial brain scan is being reviewed by the Court of Stella d'Italia. The individuals are charged with corruption, illegal drug trafficking, omicide, promotion of slavery, promotion of illegal prostitution, piracy and terrorism. This is the proof that Rosa Nera is not a threat relegated to the planet of Garibaldi, there is also evidence of intense collaboration with local earth mafias like the N'Drangheta and the Camorra. Unfortunately the criminals won't surrender easily the location of the sensible headquarters of the organization let alone the name of the powerful Boss Ciro Della Rosa. All three individuals had an emergency shut-down memory implant and one of them managed to use it before our team surgically removed it.

Thanks for listening.

Marina knowing her people and people of Tyl Quadrus, had lost the ways of the 'old ones' or at least rather not revert to the ways of their ancestors and stick to savagery while the planet was still a wasteland. As Callie pointed up and Marina looked to the skies, Marina nodded in disapproval.

Marina: "Up there, there is no home for me, there are no Tylians for me, there is nothing but you Xeno's, I'd rather live and die on this planet," she says pointing down to the snowy ground, "Than run away into some distant stars or planets. I shall never leave home, I shall die a warrior, and a warrior I shall be,"

Callie was losing her patience. “Fine,” she said. She got back on the bike and started it up. “You want to stay and live your own destiny, so be it. But we’re going to get back home, with or without help.” She looked at her one more time and grabbed her DC-15s pistol before handing it to her. “I’m sorry for your friends...and I hope you can make it through this life on your own. If you ever change your mind, you know where to find us.”

She then gunned the throttle and the swoop took off, heading back towards the ship.

Marina would not accept the gun.

Marina: "You expect me to use an alien gun, more so a plasma weapon, it won't make my enemies bleed," she replied. As Callie left, Marina went and talked to herself, "Oh so the alien is gonna leave me like that aye? Great, bloody great, yeah I was better off dead at first than alive," she says as she started trekking a different direction.

Marina: "Can't go back to the boss or they may think I am an alien under Tylian skin, got to find some other place," she says as she walked

Hours later

Marina still kept on continuing on foot through the snowy landscape, no landmarks, no nothing was visible, hungry, and tired as well. Though she felt as though she was being watched. She then heard something move by.

Marina: "Eh? Who is there!?" She says, as she looked around. There was no answer, she continued trekking until she felt something grasp her arm with her burned hand, she then quickly looked around but by then the being stretched her arm out and broke it with it's elbow. She then let out a scream and then blacked out.

Part of her wanted to turn around, but Callie knew it wouldn’t make a difference. The girl wouldn’t trust them, not that she could blame them, but leaving her on her own seemed cruel, even for her.

She soon returned to the ship and saw Kyle and Jorge working on what looked like a makeshift communications array. “Having fun?” she asked.

“Oh yeah, trying to piece together a complicated device from scrap parts, real fun,” Jorge said. “Where’s the girl?”

Callie looked away. “She didn’t seem interested in cooperating so...I let her go.”

“You let her go?” Kyle asked dubiously.

“I gave her a weapon.”

“You know she may just off herself...”

Callie suddenly cursed. Of course she didn’t think of that...but maybe at least it would give her peace. “If she does happen to come back, and shoot at us, maybe she’ll have changed her mind. Anyway, you two need some help?”

“You can pass us that hydrospanner,” Kyle said.
