The name was messed up as time progressed

When Santamar was colonized, it was named The Viceroyalty of Santa Marta.

But due to various reasons, people eventually ended up spelling it as Santamar.

Before it was colonized, Santamar was called "Chicuzacón" by the natives which means Land of the sun in their language

Chicu - Sun

Zacón - Land or nation
