Kumbhalgarh

What is to stop corporations in Vajji to simply move their assets and investments to different nations such as Kumbhalgarh or HRR. We live in a globalized world, such close minded policy is simply going to shackle your economy and force capital out of your country.

The Imperial Welfare Union of New Camelot of Avalonia

We encourage all nations to differentiate socialism from communism, and look further into the social organization that Vajji has chosen. Avalonia will be making a statement at a later time, but encourages nations to consider the reasons for which Vajji has made this decision, and recognize their sovereignty and the sovereignty of their people to decide the management of their economy and resources.

Vajji has finally made the much desired descision to ban all corporates in the country. A period of 3 months will be granted to all existing companies to reorganize themselves into worker cooperatives. The Commissariat of Industry will guide the companies in the process. Companies that do not comply will be forcefully seized.

In worker cooperatives, all workers will get one share, and they cannot sell it. They can elect the CEO, who will set wages, make major appointments, and so on. They will also receive their share of the firm's profits at the end of each year. Cooperatives will have the freedom to decide who will get more shares of the profit than others. (For example, Cooperative X can grant 3 shares for unskilled labour, 5 for skilled labour, 7 for experts and managers).

Capital intensive industries (transport, steel, telecommunication, etc.) will have two types of shares. Class A shares can only be bought and held by workers and entitles them to one vote in co-op matters. Class B shares can be bought by other cooperatives and mission driven foreign companies. Using this approach, Vajjian cooperatives can offer investors the prospect of modest, but fair, financial returns without putting employee control or the firm’s social or environmental mission at risk.

Industries such as agriculture, healthcare and education will be completely decentralized and government owned and will operate via Democratic Planning where workers and consumers cooperatively create and approve
a plan for what is to be produced and consumed.

uhh what about the people who made richs by capitalism or people who are qualified for the jobs cause voting can lead to corruption (note i dont condemn u i am just asking for General knowledge.)

Kumbhalgarh wrote:We strongly disagree with this statement. Vajji's new model will lead to extreme amounts of red tape and bureaucracy. The idea of giving every worker a share, and having a democratic planning system means inherent bureaucracy and inefficiency. Also, this will lead to supply allocation and price control problems, as we cannot expect the bureaucracy to always accurately determine prices. We also believe that getting rid of private enterprise will lead to lack of competition in the market, which will disturb the market for consumers and drive down profits. Not only that, but this system is set to be plagued by organizational inefficient.

Moreover, what is to say that these private corporations will willingly hand over their assets for the government to seize? This is unethical and outright dangerous. The government is seizing all assets in what Kumbhalgarh believes is economic totalitarianism. We offer all corporations in Vajji a chance to leave the country and move all their assets to Kumbhalgarh with a discounted tax rate, and foreign investment credits.

Vajji strongly disagrees with your understanding of our economic model.

Cooperatives are decentralised. This means that they are locally owned and run. As a result, the money stays grounded in the local economy, building community wealth. Since they deal directly with the producers and with the ultimate consumers they enhance allocative efficiency and are not dependent on a large elaborate bureaucracies.

With their shared ownership, cooperatives serve their members’ needs democratically. They offer each member-owner a vote in board elections and a say in the running of the business, thus establishing a greater degree of mutual responsibility and accountability than in private companies. Member-owners answer to one another rather than to outside investors, and that interrelationship tends to minimize fraudulent, deceptive and damaging behavior.

Many other features of cooperatives (equitable distribution of surplus, mutual help, social benefit, etc.) make them much more natural vehicles for corporate social responsibility.

Also, we are working to establish a computer-based form of democratic economic planning and coordination between economic enterprises to improve efficiency and eliminate errors.

We believe that a cooperative economy is the best model for combining social and economic progress. We know that it will never attract as much capital as an investor-owned business. Nor will it prevent human error. But is an model of economy that is much more stable and sustainable than free market capitalism.

Also, Vajjian companies already operated in market socialist economy and have already been practicing workplace democracy with successful results. This decision was long anticipated. The companies have the freedom to move to other nations within the given 3 months.

Basically the ratio between the highest-paid and the lowest-paid employee— is dramatically lower in worker cooperatives. Also by expanding ownership opportunities to workers, worker- cooperatives allow a much larger portion of the population to build wealth through business ownership. So there won't be any monopolization and billionaires. As for the already existing rich people, they'll start getting richer very very slowly. They can move out of my country. I don't care for them.

Also, more democracy means more mutual responsibility and accountability. Corruption would be reduced. Also, qualified people will only get elected into managerial positions (since the firm is a responsibility of everyone). Meritocracy and democracy don't have to mutually exclusive.

The Imperial Welfare Union of New Camelot of Avalonia

~~~ A Statement by the High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Avalonian Ministry of State ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Imperial Welfare Union of New Camelot of Avalonia commends The People's Confederacy of Vajji on their most recent development in the area of human rights and economic inequality.

Avalonia disagrees with the criticisms of economic totalitarianism, and would like to bring out the double-standard. The capitalist class has been engaging in economic totalitarianism as non-state actors for centuries, and has built such economic totalitarianism into a global hegemony that sees the domination of the economy by a select few as normal and right. The adverse, a democratized economy working for the general welfare of the society, has been designated as inherently wrong and evil by this hegemony, despite it being the most equitable system.

Socialism is based on human equality and dignity. Recognizing the inherent dignity of every person, and the inherent equality of all people, there is simply no justification for the allocation of resources to a select few. Similarly, there is no justification for allocating the means of a production a select few, when all people are inherently equal in worth and dignity. While the systems of Avalonia and Vajji are vastly different, the commonality is that both systems reflect human dignity and equality in the allocation of means of production.

Removing the capitalist class in favor for social ownership means that the industry is not skewed towards the capitalist class, but towards the society. Economies are inherently based on scarcity, or the allocation of limited resources. Capitalist economies run on exploiting scarcity, while socialist economies run on managing scarcity. Avalonia believes that a society cannot function healthily if there is an entire class whose livelihood depends on maintaining the economic exploitation of others.

On that topic of bureaucracy, bureaucracy is not inherently harmful to industry. What is more harmful is corruption, which is the most impeding force to business. A large but streamlined bureaucracy can exist in both capitalist and socialist economies. Avalonia, for instance, has the largest government in the region, while maintaining the lowest levels of corruption and the highest level of economic efficiency. Should Vajji reduce corruption, business will be done more easily regardless of economic system. When the resources of a society are controlled by a few, that is inherently corrupt. One's inherited wealth is a form of nepotism, the maximization of profit for the capitalist class at the expense of the working class is an inherently corrupt abuse of power, etc..

As officially a post-materialist state, Avalonia has a socialist system for the, and a common freedom system for the non-material. This means that while we allocate material resources equitably and freely to all citizens, we encourage all citizens to create the life that they would like. In Avalonia, the government and its democratic institutions manage the material resources to ensure that all people in our nation have the ability to build the life they envision. Non-material resources are those the most human in essence: the emotion of music, the flight that is joy, the inspiration of art, love, the divinity of nature, etc.. In many material free-market economies that profess freedom and democracy, there exists a tyrannical regime in the non-material that is brought upon by social inequality and the exploitation of the working class in the material. Such a regime forces parents to worry about their children's future, forces workers to choose between their health and their job, and forces the proletariat to choose between their personal life and their working life, all in the name of maximizing profit for the few. This is a most concerning, worrying, and wasteful system.

We believe the world should be most concerned with fighting inequity in the material, and tyranny in the non-material. All must be free to enjoy the joys of life without anguish for their material foundations.

Avalonia is extremely interested in furthering cooperation with Vajji and would like to arrange expanded diplomatic relations. We are also interested in improving the image of socialism in the world, and invite other nations to learn more about The Avalonian Economic System, and ask any questions they may have. But most importantly, nations must assess what they are doing to make their own countries more equitable, and should always take an acute evaluation of the values that they entrench in their economic systems.

The People's Commissariat of Vajji thanks New Camelot of Avalonia for understanding our motive and supporting us.

Vajji also believes that over the last few centuries under capitalism, the free development of humans, as individuals and as a species, has been perverted and imprisoned within social forms based upon mutual antagonism. Labour is the human creative activity, but the capacity to labour, labour power, was bought and sold like a thing. Humans were being alienated from society and alienation is the lack of self-worth, the absence of meaning in one's life, consequent to being coerced to lead a life without opportunity for self-fulfillment, without the opportunity to become actualized, to become one's self.

The final goal of our economy is the emancipation of men and women from the dehumanisation caused by mechanistic work that is psychologically alienating and which is performed in exchange for wages that give limited financial-access to the material necessities of life. That personal and societal emancipation from poverty would maximise individual liberty by enabling men and women to pursue their interests and innate talents (artistic, industrial and intellectual) whilst working by choice, without the economic coercion of poverty.

We too are interested in expanding diplomatic relations with your nation and would love to cooperate with you in the future. We are also very much interested in studying more about your economic system, the Freedom.
