The Pyramids in the Jungle of Karamuru

Hermes Express 123 wrote:Karamuru, what divination techniques do you know?

I do Bibliomancy aka book divination and Rune Divination.
I also dabble in Candle Magic.
Most of the time I watch and hear the people and the world around me and read the signs.

The Standard Model of Cantors Paradise

Almerdonia wrote:Question

Where did you get your nations name and what inspired the backstory of your nation?

Cantors Paradise is a reference to the work of Georg Cantor, who invented mathematical set theory, which is a recreational hobby of mine. It is also the name of a mathematical blog which I occasionally run into articles from.

What does set theory have to do with politics? Well, not much. I answer my issues with two goals in mind: (1) to increase stats like intelligence, education and scientific advancement, all features very important to mathematics of all kinds, and (2) to increase my inclusiveness stat, as a pale reflection of the incredible diversity of mathematical objects to be found in modern set theory and the various models thereof. Beyond that, I try just to make my nation somewhere I wouldn't mind living.

Yes, I am a geek.

The True Divine Empire of Flandarz

My nation name is a bastardization of my real last name. Back in my Army days, one of my battles called me "Flandarz the Barbarian" and I liked it so much I use it for pretty much everything now.

Greetings!

The Consortium is planning a move to Global Union Consortium. Whilst not strictly decided, it would be best for embassies to also be established there as well, to ensure a seamless transfer should it be required. Should it not be, the region will likely be deleted, so you don't need to worry about clutter.

Thank you for your support!

Thanks for the heads up, Novum orientis. It's always wise to be in a region with a living founder.

As technology develops, the divide between rich and poor countries will widen. By the end of the 2030's we'll see robots running errands and driving cabs.
There will be improvements in environmental policies, but not worldwide. Too little, too late. Natural resources will be depleted in some places, causing mass migrations and wars.
A solution will be found : industrial plastic waste will be used for building floating cities in oceans.
More freak natural disasters will occur, and much danger will come from disappearing rain forests and soil erosion in the form of yet unknown viruses and bacteria.
The countries of the world will put an end to China's world domination plans.
Piracy will reach new highs.
Overall, nations of the developed world will live in peace, but newfound rights and liberties will meet fierce, conservative opposition.
The first attempt at human spaceflight to Mars, in the early 2040's, will fail.

I would be curious as to which newfound liberties would meet fierce conservative opposition. Libertarians lean towards conservatism, and they're all for liberty and freedom.

Sad to think the human spaceflight to Mars will fail. That might mean an Apollo 13 type disaster.

Times like this, I'm honestly glad I'm in the process of quitting modern politics.

And I'm not too bothered if the mission to Mars fails. Us humans are very stubborn, we'll try again over and over. Or maybe some aliens with come and advance us to the space age.

You know what "natural disaster" worries me in the distant future? Over-population. I wonder if the day will come when we will be allowed only "replacements", no more than 2 children per couple. And that would mean, since so many kiddies are being born out of wedlock, that the mother would be required to name the father, so he could be registered as having his allotted kid, or having a mandatory abortion.

Hey, Central california republic, this sounds like the basis of a fictional story. Or is it fiction?

It's not a story. It's how China used to be. Thankfully China got rid of the one-child policy.

There will be people demanding the right to marry animals. And they will get it.

The hubris of Man will be the failure of the Mars mission. They will invent a new propellant which will prove to be dangerously unstable with all the changes in gravitational forces.
Remember the Titanic. People thought it was unsinkable back in the day.

I'm sure most of you got the TG from 742, accusing me of racism because we have an embassy with a region whose motives he questions. I am requesting that you block any further TG's from this nation.

We have embassies with many regions which some of us may find fault with. It doesn't matter. We establish embassies with almost anyone. Some by our request, others at theirs.

I resent any outsider telling us what we should or shouldn't do, because they choose to support their own agenda.

After I politely conversed with this nation explaining our position, he/she accused me of racism and sent me a very condescending and insulting TG. Sending a TG to all of you with an effort to apparently turn you against this region seems to me to be a violation of NS rules. I'm not sure. What do you think we should do, if anything?
