Landlordia

Just seen a documentary on excessive fishing. Still not a vegan, but there are ways things can be done more differently when it comes to the fishing industry. Simply replenishing what they consume could go a long way. Also cleaning up their own messes.

In Landlordia, businesses are liable for the messes they make and must clean them up or expect negative publicity, and if things get physical, violent rebellion. I actually really believe in applying this idea in real life. Also othe same approach should be taken when it comes to industries not replenishing what they consume.

I like how the Sea Shepherds in France operate; they are a volunteer group of conservationists for sea life, that hunt down fishing ships that are in violation of excessive hunting of sea life. Now that's the type of conservatism I support.

TODAY'S FREE ADVICE FROM A GROUCHY OLD FART

If you are ever called as a witness and the defense attorney asks if you said these words to his client, "You are a $*@#ing %#}&y ^$$ b|%?&" and those words are already admitted into evidence on several independent videos...

The correct answer is not, "If that's what you heard..."

The correct answer is "Yes I did. And it still goes now" while staring straight at the defendant.

Just sayin'...

No, are you?
I've seen a couple clips, but not purposefully paying attention to it.

Don't have any choice. It is part of the job.

I was thinking about a poll on the matter.

In reality, the only way to have that happen is to have the government become a vendor that charges for services. Possibly competing with the private sector for that revenue.

I've been thinking that a good way to reduce and eventually eliminate government is to have a company that severely undercuts the cost of a particular government service, while also outperforming the government. Then, either outright replace the government service or become a "subcontractor" to get your foot in the door.

There's a town called Reminderville in Ohio that fired their police force and replaced them with private security guards. The private company charged half what the county sheriff wanted per year to patrol the town, and the company promised a 6-minute emergency response time, while the sheriff's office promised a 45-MINUTE response time. After police unions complained, the town eventually went back to a government police force.

Forget the union. If the employer has been dissolved, the union has no say. I believe the bigger problem is the legal difference between commissioned officers and rent-a-cops and the differing levels authority.

Frankly, a security guard has no more authority then anyone else that happens buy. No power of arrest, no legal command authority, no power to legally detain anyone. The list of things that could go wrong with that arrangement is enough to make one of those night time TV commercial lawyers positively orgasmic with glee.

If one of those guards got into a lethal force situation... The implications go beyond a civil court spanking.

Late reply, but NS only counts your income tax. My nation could theoretically have a higher than average sales tax to make up for the lack of an income tax.

Actually i'd rather focus on increasing the disposable income.
There are issues results that increase taxation but it's totally offset by the high increase in average income, when like the issue result is pro growth enough. Thus taxation and average disposable income can actually increase at the same time!

I'm not sure what makes me more angry. The fact some a******s fired on the National Guard, or the fact service members, ordered into the area to try to keep the peace are not allowed to return fire.

Had I been in charge of the ROE, these service members would have had the option, and been encouraged to hose that vehicle down.

The idea these people have to hunker down in their Humvee and take fire without so much as yelling back at the shooters, let alone retuning fire is pure bull$#!+. If they are not allowed to defend themselves, they should not be there.

That brings up to the new poll. What do you think?

And there is a verdict. Now would be a great time for you and yours to go home, hunker down, and see how things shake out around you.

I cannot help but wonder if those voting the military should never be deployed for a civilian problem have ever seen the National Guard work after a disaster. It is almost certain none of them after lost anything to a riot. Maybe one or two of those people were part of the riot?

Where's the option for "There shouldn't be a government-Run National Guard in the first place"?

There isn't one in the reality we are dealing with.

My family has once from elsewhere and a different time. Regardless, a nation's military should not be deployed on domestic soil against its own citizens. The way it "works" is very often martial law and curfews. The suspension of the individual's negative right's of life, liberty, and property; for yet another "National Emergency".

The purpose of a nation's military is to defend the nation's sovereignty. As we've just seen from Biden's inauguration, the National Guard is more simply another tool to secure current powers.

The most effective way to deter rioters is a well-armed citizenry, the Roof Koreans in '92 and similar tactics last year proved that. If local sheriffs and and citizens can't deter riots on their streets (or even their property), it's far more likely the issue is a gross mismanagement of purpose (i.e. drug war and literally countless amount of laws) and a general population that is submissive, than a lack of yet even more power for national domestic military (and the powers that puppet it).

Ancapadonia

The Confederation of American Liberty States

Concerning the situation themselves, if fired upon it's only natural to fire back if your life depends on it. But deploying the military on domestic soil shouldn't have been done in the first place. It makes situations like Kent State 1970 more likely. Keeping the peace must be first done by local sheriffs and armed citizens.

Seriously? She had an engine crap out in flight, leaving her with one perfectly good running engine. Her airplane and all her passengers landed safely. Not even so much as a bug splat on the windshield. Now she want three quarters of a million from her airline for pain, suffering, and PTSD.

By my math someone owes me $2.34 million. I want my lawyer on the phone, right now. I'll be ordering my new Ferrari while I wait.
