My family has once from elsewhere and a different time. Regardless, a nation's military should not be deployed on domestic soil against its own citizens. The way it "works" is very often martial law and curfews. The suspension of the individual's negative right's of life, liberty, and property; for yet another "National Emergency".

The purpose of a nation's military is to defend the nation's sovereignty. As we've just seen from Biden's inauguration, the National Guard is more simply another tool to secure current powers.

The most effective way to deter rioters is a well-armed citizenry, the Roof Koreans in '92 and similar tactics last year proved that. If local sheriffs and and citizens can't deter riots on their streets (or even their property), it's far more likely the issue is a gross mismanagement of purpose (i.e. drug war and literally countless amount of laws) and a general population that is submissive, than a lack of yet even more power for national domestic military (and the powers that puppet it).
