We feel that such a proposal would be broadly worrisome: the right to vote is core to a person's relationship with a democratic society. It would be proportionate for such a society to strip such rights from those who would undermine it for the duration of their punishment. The resolution targeted for repeal requires enfranchisement of persons who have already served their sentences. This compromise is broadly acceptable and does not require adjustment.
