I don't know why, but I'm so fascinated with Asian collectivist ideology.

As an Asian myself, it seems very off-putting seeing these very aggressively individualist people in the United States, Canada, and much of the Western World.

Even the basic thing of wearing a face mask is politicised to the point of polarization. Does being uncomfortable exceed your empathy towards caring for other people in your community?

When I went to Japan, I had this political epiphany. It was so breathtaking to see a society that factored on the betterment of the community as a whole.

After studying Japanese history and understanding key ideals of Confucianism, it seems somewhat impossible for me to enjoy individualist social structures ever again.

Though, I do understand that collectivist countries tend to give people the mindset of sacrificing their happiness for the community, I think that's mostly just the extremes, right?
