Looks at past ten or so governments which have all been coalition governments that lasted only a year or so each due to political differences.

But speaking of other parties in the US, is there any political party besides the Democrats, the Republicans and the Greens (this is what they are called right)?

The Greens are quite irrelevant now; I think they were more or less absorbed by the Democrats. We also have libertarians (I voted for one last November) but they do not do much, especially when it comes to winning elections.

America seems to have surges every few years with a new third party or option (Perot, Tea Party, Green Party, Bernie Sanders) rising to prominence, but they never gain much traction.
