If you haven't taken the time to hop on our Discord or swing by the forums, you're missing out on all sorts of fun.

A Pride-inspired soccer tournament starts 6/9 (nice!). Why a sport RP? You'll see...

Also, coming up later this evening on our regional forums: The Queens' Rainbow Jubilee. We're loading up coloring sheets of our favorite drag queens. These ain't your grammar school coloring books!

I'm pretty partial to the word "queer" myself.

LGBT and its derivatives always feel like a cold categorisation to me, a political tool. It's sort of precise, it's useful for businesses or governments in deciding whom to superficially support and systemically discriminate against, but at the end of the day it's just a list of things. For me, at least, it carries no sense of community, it practically begs undignified and dehumanising discussions of who does and doesn't "count", and by nature relies on implicit value judgements of who's most important, most oppressed, whatever. Adequate for some government official who wants to shake hands with a gay bloke and tell us how progressive he is, tenuous basis for a community.

"Queer" is a much more valuable term to me - it's a bit more confrontational, it's broader and doesn't play favourites and it can represent the common ground in our differences. A basis to define ourselves on our own terms rather than for the convenience of others.

I would also be remiss not to point out that the term's use as a self-identifier is older than its use as a derogatory term (not to mention older than anyone here), and its widespread reclamation in a more modern context, for what it's worth, has a good 30-40 years of history under its belt, which is really pretty good considering the relatively short period in which our activism has been viable on a large scale. While individual obliviousness is understandable, the erasure of our history by way of both ignorance and deliberate aggression has a tendency to produce the misapprehension that queer existence and aspects of our culture are a brand new, countercultural development - a misapprehension that is foundational to movements dedicated to our elimination.

Quite interesting! I like seeing nations develop their lore. If you are interested in roleplaying with us, we also have an interesting regional map and roleplay.

I love your insight into this, and as a fellow queer (abet a young queer at least), I agree.

My commentary on the term in the TITW comes from myself and how people around me feel. As the term is broad, I wanted to push discussion than make a post on it.

Honestly, your wikipedia page of a factbook is quite inspiring. I also got the base layout of my factbook from yours (although I changed it a bit).
