Darkesia may be interested to know that tomorrow I am baking a chocolate and blackcurrant cake. Due tribute will not be available until Friday.

A few years ago on Holocaust Memorial Day I started following the Auschwitz Memorial on Twitter (@AuschwitzMuseum). They tell individual stories on significant days for those individuals, e.g. birth anniversary or arrival at Auschwitz. Unsurprisingly, there are multiple posts each day, and no duplicates as the years roll by. Each day we learn about another fully-formed human brutalised. It's a hard read, but a necessary one. I recommend anyone else with a Twitter account also follow.

(apologies if recommending other SNs is not permitted on the RMB - I couldn't see a specific prohibition on the Etiquette but honestly I'm tired and I skimmed)

That’s absolutely fine WG, thank you for that post.

Which is why I knew you'd appreciate my frustration. I love ya man. The whole thing put me in a bad spot, felt I was made to make a fool of myself. And Krull was frustratingly stonewalling. That was unusual.

If I am honest... I have not let it go. I it something that still nags me. Perhaps I should... just forget it. But to this day, I still get angry thinking about it... about the lies, the deception... the way it was handled.

Yeah, that's why I couldn't let my own sanitized version go unchallenged. I can't ignore it, and prefer the truth over the whitewash. The nice version may be respectful to a player that has passed, but it's not respectful to the player communities that experienced the effects of his game career.

Yes, it was a spammer that got banjected from the region and later deleted their own posts.

Elegarth wrote:And the Moo topic... Well... I'm frowned upon by many older NPO players for being open and upfront about it. I have very strong opinions about the whole fiasco.

I don't think there are many Moo sympathizers around anymore, mostly just old ordinary members more nostalgic about being in NPO during the time period Moo was around than him specifically. Most of those who were closest to him departed a long time ago. There is a general acceptance that he was a flawed individual who squandered a lot of opportunities due to his lackluster management skills.

Most of his "game career" - or even broader games career - could be summed up simply by saying he preferred to inflate his own ego and pick fights over managing and improving the communities he was supposed to be leading.

Well put. He sought others to do the management for him, and in the slow years of NS he often didn't have much to work with. There was one point he had me doing new forum graphics for a rebrand of the NPO as The Pacific Garrison. And I wrote a few speeches for him. Others did too. Even in his first executive position as Prime Minister in Equilism he had Chauce take part of his duties, which was to be our WA Delegate. Moo wanted the position without having to be tied down. Generally understandable for a gameplayer on military missions, but it was his first instance of avoiding the responsibilities of his position. The beginning of a pattern.

Our first Prime Minster/Delegate Tomika stepped down in Feb. '04 and appointed me to replace him, so he could focus on being Military Minister leading the army. That's what Moo should have done, but Moo had to have his cake and eat it too, and the pattern of his career was set.

TODAY IN THE WEST

It's Thank You Thursday! What should we be grateful for today?

I'm grateful that it is Data Privacy Day. Everyone should check their data privacy as well as their security. So with an attitude of gratitude, consider changing your passwords. Double check your social media privacy settings.

Finally, it is Global Community Engagement Day, which is a perfect day to remind you to join the Hall of Nations here and get involved in a ministry. As you've seen, NationStates is an online community. Some players have been around since the very beginning. What brings them back? Friendships, social outlets. Think of how you can enrich TWP's community as a culture specialist, an ambassador, or an updater. Apply here: https://www.westpacific.org/forums/index.php?/topic/3446-hall-of-nations-application/&tab=comments#comment-71292

P.S., the best thing you can do for local communities is wear a mask, maintain social distancing, and wash your hands!

I'm back in bed! Have the house to myself so I'm just watching nonsense and taking a nap. Today, I was up at 2 am, and didn't fall back asleep. I made a breakfast of eggs and toast, and did a bunch of card shenanigans on here. I have taken to punishing one player in particular through the challenge system after they made a rather unpleasant remark to me in a telegram. I have won against them 1500 times now. Since they were an ambassador of a small region, I let their executive know about it. Apparently the person was impeached, but fled before the vote could go through. Remember: in a politics simulator, it pays to be polite. I am a petty, petty man.

This afternoon, I shall make a pot of meat, beans, chickpeas, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and spices, to serve over rice. I call it chilli, it's probably not the definition of chilli, but it is a very enjoyable meal and makes fantastic leftovers. There is a minor mountain of laundry to put away. The Red Bull is partially required to get through that, but mostly it's for improving my health. Think it's the Taurine - investigating it further with a few doctors.

Pleasant Thursday to ye. Remember to change your passwords in regard to the special announcement today (Data Privacy Day). A tool that's quite useful is the following website:

https://haveibeenpwned.com

ADD: On my mind today is the possibility of forming a business on here - embarrassing other nations by lowering their challenge win percentage in exchange for trading cards. When S3 comes out (if it comes out), you could just send me the card of the nation you want hit, ha.

I just noticed that Eurazio left this region, then I looked at his profile on civil rights and political freedom and thought, "well deserved."

The starvation route can always be negated with enough preparation. I am reminded now of how I used to sneak cans of diet coke and biscuits into my bedroom when I was growing up - not that food would be withheld from me, it's just that my dad would eat all the sweet things before anyone else could.
