Statement Hey everyone. So I gone messed up. For those of you who are not aware (you lucky people), TLA, a long-standing embassy region of ours, is going through a little bit of a... bumpy ride. The issue relates to the thorny thing of debate moderation. Now, for this I feel partly responsible for this whole mess snowballing in the way it has (going into why would take a literal age, but it's mainly down to me not knowing when to keep my mouth shut). Because of this, I feel really quite guilty about it, especially in my capacity as Deputy of Foreign Affairs (so it's kinda my job not to make these kinds of errors). So, long story short, I'm resigning as Depty MoFA, cause the buck stops with me for my own actions. It's been a pleasure serving yous. (::)
How does the government work on this region? in regards to elections and stuff? Also just want to say really like the look of this region and will aim to be an active member of it.
Statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Maltobalto was ejected and banned under A-26 which trolls fall under. They immediately moved here after founding and acted as if they had any standing in government. As such, they have been banned from the region.
So, it's been about 6 weeks since Ainland betrayed the SLU by way of a coup d'etat. Let me say that while I staunchly oppose the North Korean government and share Ainland's sympathy in that regard, I think Ainland took it way too far. This is supposed to be a democratic region, which means if we nations of the SLU want something, we should get it. Any animosity toward North Korea, while understandable, doesn't justify betraying an entire region that we've spent years building. I've lost all sympathy for Ainland, and I'm sure most of you have, too.
Overthrew the elected government that was in operation for almost 10 continuous years after saying they would leave us alone. That's all that's relevant. If you have any further questions you can ask on the Discord. (::)
P.S. Also,,, there's no need to tag a nation that's not even in the region such as Ainland. You get pinged each time, by default, as you can see here Masvala. ;) And also your nation title is fine, that random person who said you broke the rules just started pretending like they work for the SLU government.
If you go to The Social Liberal Union’s Region homepage, you will see a link to a pinned dispatch on the coup carried out against the government that summarizes the course of events and the elected government’s response :)
I urge y'all to vote FOR the GA resolution at vote, Death Penalty Ban. It abolishes the death penalty in civilian context while leaving the door open to it in the context of war crimes. This last bit also doesn't have a blocker, so it could be revised in future, but the exemption is one I know many of us care about.
Last time there was a resolution on the death penalty, I remember I was getting tons of telegrams from both sides urging me to vote either way. trust me there will be more of this with this resolution. People are going to oppose this no matter if there are no blockers on it or if the death penalty is for those who commit crimes regarding a military penal code. There will be fierce opposition to this.
Blockers are revisions in a resolution that don't allow the resolution to be amended in the future, the only way to change it if it passes would be to repeal.
For instance, the recently repealed and replaced “International Criminal Protocol” had a blocker on a death penalty ban wrapped in tepidly progressive prison handling. Good riddance.
(in short, blockers are a function of the wa being poorly set up)
