Hansdeltanian forces have successfully downed the decaying nuclear satellite. Details are classified but it is known that a ship-based missile delivered the killing blow.

National Archives: Second Cartdrigenian Civil War
On a day like today but 29 years ago, the second civil war in Cartdrigen was at its peak. This civil war began with the assassination of Markus Cartdrigen (considered the father of the country) on August 30, 1991 and reached its peak of violence in 1992 when interim president Frederick Belton dissolved parliament and began with a genocidal plan called " Operation C ", in this he annihilated through concentration camps, executions and torture a large part of his opponents (the majority supporters of Markus Cartdrigen), in total about 6,400,000 were estimated to be locked up in concentration camps and 800,000 of them died by executions , famines etc.
Today April 12, 2021, Cartdrigen turns black in a new anniversary of the beginning of Operation C, the relatives of the 800,000 killed during this bloody period are mobilized through the long avenues of Hiuri with photos of their relatives in their hands. Although this day is not considered an event by the government, out of respect, schools and shops close and photos of the deceased are seen on all the streets of Cartdrigen.

Preparations for a coup The leftists and even liberals have answered the call, and generally formed an alliance with Khomnian monarchists with the intent of a post-war (implicatedly) left-leaning constitutional monarchy.
After staging a meeting in an old basketball court promptly after being expelled by the Conservative coalition, the democratic parties have agreed to petition the Saintri government to recognize a government in waiting:
Fmr. Crown Prince Claude Jasegion as king As a concession to the liberal democrats, Edmund Empener will be the provisional prime minister, minister of the interior, and regent Gyato Sato, the cabinet's generally anti-authoritarian and anti-nationalist foreign minister Antonio Eisenhauer, Minister of War Aslani Gustaf-Widobo, Minister of Finance
Preparations for the landings
Meanwhile, fortifications are being built outside of the range of the enemy fleet, with careful attention to the assumed enemy aircraft that will try to soften them up, along with fallback fortifications when the beach-heads are lost. The Khomnian Navy attempts to fend the submarines and capital ships off, as by this point the majority of it hasn't been destroyed: but they are outnumbered--and along with Khomney itself, cannot expect much help. Preparations to disable power lines and other infrastructure the enemy may use is being prepared.
In the meantime, the attempt to alleviate the bombardment continues with full effort from Khomney's near-obsessive coastal defense installations. The first kamikaze strikes have gotten the go-ahead, their targets being cruisers and aircraft carriers.
In other news, a cold front will pass through western Khomney between the 14th and 22nd.

The Akarian military will be put on alert just in case the war spills over.

Electoral reform in Parliament and Robert Mado seeking his third term as president
A piece of news has surprised the entire country. Robert Mado, former president of Cartdrigen and the only one with 2 terms, has run for the presidential elections this year in search of his third term as president of the nation with the Democratic Union.
Going back to the past. Robert Mado assumed his first term on October 20, 2003, in that first term he proposed to fix a Cartdrigen totally destroyed by internal conflicts and crimes against humanity committed by former presidents Frederick Belton and Richard Fox (Operation C 1992- 1997 and the Atheist Massacre 1998-2002). Mado took office with a Cartdrigen plunged into a deep economic crisis, with hyperinflation and extreme poverty above 25%, just one year after taking power, extreme poverty was 1.30%, cities were rebuilt, the HDI passed From 0.423 to 0.780, GDP per capita went from 1,780 Hansdeltans to 25,914 Hansdeltans, the country was modernized, the country became free of illiteracy and insecurity was no longer a problem.
In her second term she focused on social issues, things such as legalizing same-sex marriage, legalizing the voluntary termination of pregnancy (only for women at risk of death or rape) were done, a law of respect to ethnic diversity was enacted, womens, blacks, minorities and even lgbt people received more political prominence, schools, universities and public hospitals were built for the poorest people, they took plans to curb unemployment, began the so-called "sand plans" in which (with the help of organizations) food and water were brought to the poorest parts of the country and administrative expenses were lowered to curb extremely high salaries to parliamentarians and political leaders as trade unionists.
In 2015 he could not run for the elections due to the limit of terms allowed and instead Margaret Aluoba ran for the Democratic Union, even so, the Democratic Union did not win the elections against the independent candidate Albert Ferd. From 2016 to the present, the media places Robert Mado as the most beloved person in Cartdrigen.
Now, the most beloved person in Cartdrigen has announced that she will run for president in this year's presidential elections with the Democratic Union (which in 2019 became the largest political party in Cartdrigen), the candidate for vice president will be Margaret Aluoba, that, in the event that the Democratic Union won the elections, it will be the first woman to hold that position
In other news, right now it is being evaluated simultaneously in both chambers of parliament bring the elections forward to May 1, if this is approved, the news from here until the elections will be nominated candidates (unfortunately).
The Saintri Government has officially recognized the left leaning constitutional monarchy.
Bombardments have slowed but continue as Saintri Generals begin initiating talks with Neo-trinity generals about a possible joint invasion (that part is secret)
The kamikazees are failures as the destroyers around the carriers take out incoming aircraft with their AA.

Domestic Affairs As the country resumes its plan to modernize the nation, new businesses and companies continue to grow as the economy greatly increases. The unemployment rate is continuously decreasing as jobs are being created as the plan is seems to be a complete success.
Foreign Affairs The king hasn’t made any comments on the war going on as his focus is being drawn to domestic matters.

The right hand of the workers
In its trusty Manoroim, the Workers' Party (also known as the Cartdrigenian Communist Party) has presented its candidates for the presidential race. Marla Algabo was presented as a candidate for the presidency while Lauren Kyovka was presented as a vice president. This is the first time in the history of Cartdrigen that an electoral formula is made up of two women. As in 2015, the candidates organized huge demonstrations throughout Manoroim where they are gaining more and more votes.
In other news, the parliament has finally approved after a marathon session, the postponement of the elections to May 1, 2021, which leaves the presidential debate between April 25 and 30.

The nation of jh
They have been watched by onlookers and a Shinto priest.
As two am rolls to three, the winds start to die down. The smoke bellows into the sky, as the fire enters its sixth hour, and its 4,000th acre. At this time, yesterday, few would be up or driving. The cities would be lifeless as the cargo trucks continue on down the freeways and county routes. This however is not what it looks like today. Countless people from throughout the Jezreel Valley call their loved ones to say that they are alright, or they have been evacuated. Tens of thousands of vehicles are lining up in the traffic jams that are now prevalent, in everyone's rush to escape the wrath of the fire. Still, many are doubtful of the fire's danger, despite its closeness. This fatal error may now become the undoing of many lives.
In Afula, capital of the Jezreel Region, the Regional Headquarters of fire operations is in a massive hurry. From the 2nd basement, to the 4th floor, everyone is busy like there is no tomorrow. From the Red Flag Fire Warning they had posted 3 days ago, now they work to make sure the National Emergency Service is informed about all operations, and who is in the line of danger. "Status report" Yells one person muffled. "4,102 acres and counting. A rate of 11.4 acres every minute." "Sh*t! At that rate..... Ok, uncover and mobilize the apparatus' we need as much there as possible. And get NES on the line. We need their air support. NOW!" "Yes Ma'am"
Already above the fire, three R-334s are orbiting, buckets below their fuselages, dropping water on the flanks of the fire. Being outdistanced and out numbered by far, there is little the 100 gallon buckets can do, against the raging inferno down below. In Amman International Airport (AMM), a few aircraft take off in quick secession. Marked from Red 1 to Red 6, the fleet of propeller aircraft move from the west to east. The fleet of De Havilland Dash-8s, carrying 2,500 gallons of retardant each, are led by a Cirrus SR22. They are each making a journey of 111 miles to Jezreel.
Down below, fire crews already see the futileness of their actions. Trying to make a fire break around populated areas, the fire continues to get closer and closer, until the crews are feeling scorched, just from the heat. In Metula, a small town some 7 miles from the Belus River, has a population of roughly 1,700 people. The town, like countless others are nearing the grips of the fire. The ominous red glow emanating just above the treetops makes night look like dawn. Even from the distance of 3 or 4 miles, people can see the flames reach for the sky, then flicker back down, in a destructive yet beautiful dance. In the distance a helicopter can be seen going back and forth, dropping its cargo onto the fire, although from their perspective, it has done nothing to stop the advance. As night turns to dawn, dawn to day, the air operations increase. From 3 helicopters, to 15, and the 5 fixed wing aircraft. Continuing people are still evacuating in the overcrowded streets. As the fire picks up again, with the boost from the winds, the fire marches right past the mostly abandoned Metula. It would only take minutes for the unpopulated streets to become a hellish landscape, unrecognizable to even the longest resident of the town. As reported from the air crews of Kraken Four "The town was there in a second, and we flew through the brunt of the smoke cloud. Coming out the other side, we realized, we just passed over Metula, that it was what was under the smoke." Those who remained were burned out, becoming the first fatalities in the ever expanding fire. Soon, it reached Miyila, 3,250 residents, and Eilabun 5,750 residents. Within the next 12 hours, each of these towns the victims of the unwavering march of the fire. Most residents already had evacuated, although possibly dozens still remained as the fire caught up to them.
Back in Afula, "Status" "Three towns burned out, active 18 hours, and is now 19,300 acres. The 3 towns that have been destroyed are near the epicenter of the fire. The next closest ones are.... Jesh, 3 miles from fire perimeter, and.... Arraba, 14 miles from the perimeter." "And population?" "31 hundred and 26 thousand, Ma'am"
Fire Status: 19,306 acres Duration: 18 hours 36 minutes Structures Destroyed: 2009 (307, 566, 1128) Death toll: Unknown

It's done
The last 2 candidates for the elections have been announced, which completes the 6 candidates, which is the minimum required. Here we will present all the candidates for the general elections on May 1. --- Independent
The current president Albert Ferd is seeking reelection without a party. His running mate is Carter Bell, the current vice president.
Cartdrigenian Liberal Party
Perhaps this is one of the most controversial candidacies of this election. Louis Magnimus, brother of the former governor of the province of Glory Andrew Magnimus, stands in the elections in the middle of a high-profile criminal case in which his late brother is involved. Her running mate is Anwen Patterson
Democratic Union
After two excellent terms and becoming the most beloved person in Cartdrigen, Robert Mado is running again in search of becoming president for the third time and making history, most of the polls put him as the main favorite to win the elections. Her running mate is Margaret Aluoba
Workers party
Manoroim's largest party seeks the presidency again after being close in the 2003 and 2015 elections, this time a surprising female formula composed of Marla Algabo and Lauren Kvyovka seeks to win the elections although unfortunately this party is not very large in the rest of the Cartdrigen.
One country
A recent coalition between conservative and nationalist parties that stands for elections in a Cartdrigen where the best thing is to change the status quo to take measures against corruption and an ineffective judicial system. The candidates for the presidency are Alexander Murphy and Jacob Evans.
Christian Democratic Party
Their position as religious fanatics leaves them among the least favorite to win the election. We have Jareth Campbell and Darko Stojanović, two fans of the Orthodox Church whose plans include changing the constitution so that Cartdrigen is no longer a secular state. --- These are the 6 candidates for the presidency, many have been surprised due to the large number of women on the electoral lists, something that has never happened in the electoral history of Cartdrigen.
The Hansdelta Times Editorial: Hansdeltania is not ready to fight abroad Brian Shubrick
Five service branches (six if you count the Coast Guard), 400 warships, 14,000 aircraft, and 3,500,000 active-duty men and women—that's the Hansdeltanian military. And yet despite its size, it's woefully unprepared for overseas wars.
The last war where we took the fight over the waves was more than 70 years ago—the Circum-Pacific War. The entire Circum-Pacific War was the last time Hansdeltanian troops fought overseas in a sustained operation. EASTERN WIND doesn't count—we bombed Choseonese installations and let them collapse in on themselves while we sailed away under the sign "Mission Accomplished." The Airemmean Wars of 2019–2020 were either right on our front lawn or even in our own living room. Anybody who served in the first part of the Nordesean War will understand.
In 1939, Choseon bombed Sand Island. In 1942, we returned the favor and kneecapped the Choseonese navy south of an atoll called Midway. In 1945, we put Hansdeltanian boots on Choseonese soil. In 1947, Hansdeltanian troops and Japanese rebels forced Choseon to give up Japan.
For 70 years, Hansdeltanian troops have not gone overseas to fight. We have not been in a war on such a huge scale since. Hansdeltanian troops are ready and able to fight, but the moment they leave Hansdeltanian soil and fight abroad, they will stand no chance. This isn't just a matter of experience—it's also about tactics and doctrine. When I went to Aurelius in 1985, our military science classes taught us the tactics of various battles—Kyoto 1594, Hansdelta 1753, Osaka 1945, Tokyo 1947—in the classroom. In the field, however, they taught us low-intensity warfare—completely different from what was in the classroom. For a soldier, you're more likely to retain your training from the field than from the classroom. The expectation of us in an actual conflict was against an insurgency, not the armed forces of a formidable foe.
Look where that got us when Nordese invaded in 2019 and when we invaded Lenneeshe in 2020. We lost nearly a quarter of Hansdeltanian soil for a month before we reorganized and went on the offensive in 2019. In Lenneeshe, we suffered more than 60,000 casualties. In three months, we lost the same amount of troops as we did over two years in Belka.
It is painfully obvious that the Hansdeltanian military is not ready to fight overseas. The aircraft carrier and the carrier strike group are incapable of fighting a war by themselves; they must have boots on the ground when a peer adversary comes to fight. Hansdeltanian doctrine must change if the Federal Union is to last in this world.
Brian Shubrick is a former Hansdeltanian Federal Army colonel who retired from service in 2009. He is a 1989 graduate of the Aurelius Military Academy and served in Japan and Belka. Shubrick is an associate professor at the Aurelius Military Academy.
