Their work was not pointless. During the Great Patriotic War, GULAG workers produced many things for the soldiers of the Red Army.

He did treat his slaves well tho. But still slavery, genocide, yknow, the bad stuff is bad. No matter what.

They were forced to do productive labor, and deaths weren't that much either. Where is the footage like from Nazi death camps if people systematically worked to death? Bad conditions were caused by overall bad conditions, especially in the worst years.

Four million is a vastly exaggerated number, in fact, by an order of magnitude. This is a tragedy, but not a genocide since genocide implies intent.
Death rates in gulag varied between 0.9% in the best years and 16% during WW2. You may also notice that death rates correspond directly to economic conditions of USSR. And, if you look at profits the system made, you would notice they were in the negatives, implying the whole thing was tax-funded and the labor was there to rehabilitate criminals and not exploit them.

Stalin committed genocide stop sugarcoating it.

He did, but not in this instance.

For the most part, Holodomor happened due to incompetence of those who collected grain from the villages. Forgot their name honestly.

Oh sorry, I meant the death toll was between 3.5 - 7 million.
Oh I read my sources, and not from Russian propaganda that tries to minimize its devastating effects. And there was intent, prosper to others suffering while quenching their dissent, then deny it all together. It only ended when the harvest was over. Stalin did not help them.
I’m not even going to get into the gulag part, Jesus just admit it was terrible and nothing good came out of it!

Okay,I guess. But..what the heck happened there?
Wait until the US genocide happens again.

The Federal Republic of Socialist State Fayria

Lol
the famine was primarily caused by the reign of Nicholas II + many adult able-bodied men died on the fronts of the First World War + the destruction of the civilian population by the White Guards (this had already happened during the civil war). The country did not have enough people to cultivate the land and, in principle, to work even without the "TERRIBLE EATER OF CHILDREN AND CATS JOSEPH DZHUGASHVILI"

If you want to talk about the downsides of Joseph Stalin, then talk about the execution of Meyerhold, etc.

Yes, of course, as if your sources wouldn't exaggerate the number of victims.

Russian propaganda actually loves anti-Sovietism, read Solovyov and his love for the executioner of the Italian people.

I’m sure I looked at multiple sources.

Arctic Lands wrote:lmao, the death toll invented by none other than a Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera. You read sources from American propaganda that tries to maximise the effects, I read actual statistics. All the excess deaths during the famine amounted to 400k people, and not even all of them were from starvation. Russian propaganda doesn't even like USSR, they call to honor white generals and Nazi collaborators while saying USSR couldn't produce anything lol.

Stalin did help them, that's why lots of people were saved. I saw multiple orders with his signature ordering various measures to help people.

Gulag had its issues, and a lot of good still came out of it.

This part really bothers me, but otherwise I agree.

Again, Joseph Stalin did good things (as Arctic said). I am not a revisionist, but lying about a person by saying that he is a "Soviet copy of Hitler" as our post-Soviet intelligentsia does is also not necessary.

You aren't providing any sources either. I, however, saw a source for your claims provided by someone else. You know who wrote said source? That's right, Bandera. It was written right above the text.

"American-painted wall, all I get is exaggeration, no source, just Nazi lies."
