Yeah.

The City Corporation of Forwerpen

Terra Magnifica Gloria wrote:Diamonds are actually pretty common, it's just that there is a company which has control of most diamond mines that artificially inflates the price.

This is no longer true actually. Diamonds are expensive because of increased demand, especially with the growth of the middle class in countries like China and India. We are running out of economically viable diamond sources. Of course, this isn't an actual problem in the long term because of synthetic diamonds (except for the few companies that bet everything on 'natural diamonds').

Edit: De Beers isn't even the biggest source of diamonds anymore! It's ALROSA.

Bender: "Hey brobot, what's your serial number?"
Flexo: "3370318."
Bender: "No way! Mine's 2716057!"
[both laugh]
Fry: "I don't get it."
Bender: "We're both expressible as the sum of two cubes."
